On a night staged as an emergency, Po leads Tigress and Mantis into the newly opened Masters’ Council exhibit, a tribute to Masters Thundering Rhino, Ox, and Croc. Though Tigress and Mantis grow irritated by the ruse, Po keeps them engaged by telling the story of how the trio of masters first came together.
Long ago, in the city of Jinzhou where kung fu has long been trained as street combat, Rhino, Ox, and Croc were small-time pit fighters whose skills drew the eye of Oogway. As the three push each other to a standstill in a high-stakes contest, two of the Wu Sisters free their leader, Su Wu, prompting Oogway to steer the trio toward locating the sisters at the dangerous Hubei Volcano. To secure their cooperation, he offers them vague promises of riches, arousing curiosity and caution in equal measure.
While the Wu Sisters scheme to unite rival gangs to grab control of China, Oogway must listen to each of his companions’ tempting proposals and gently steer them away from self-interest. Around a campfire, it becomes clear that while Croc is driven by vanity and Ox by wealth, Rhino carries a deeper longing—to earn his father’s respect, embodied by Master Flying Rhino. To illustrate his point, Oogway suggests that their current aims will only leave them wanting more, and that a shift in course could bring a better, shared life. Before the lesson can sink in, a messenger bird arrives with news of the sisters’ plan, and the group sets off without delay.
To push them toward genuine change, Oogway secretly guides them on a perilous journey across the Bridge of Mists, forcing them to cooperate so they can all pass safely. He reveals that the reward they seek is not material wealth but emotional riches and the bonds forged through selflessness. Their protest at the revelation is cut short when they tumble onto a river of lava; Oogway drags them to safety, but he slips away into the molten flow, leaving behind the admonition to “Remember the path.”
Disheartened, the trio stumbles homeward and soon encounters a rabbit village wrecked by the Wu Sisters. Moved by the villagers’ plight, they refuse any payment for protection and vow to stop the Wu Sisters for a higher purpose than personal gain.
The trio disrupt the Wu Sisters’ summit, exposing that their move is driven by ambition rather than honor. The visiting gangs hesitate as the three combine their unique talents—Rhino’s strength, Ox’s endurance, and Croc’s cunning—to mount a coordinated assault that overwhelms the criminal alliance. In the decisive moment, Oogway reappears, having survived, and congratulates his former students for proving themselves worthy warriors who have embraced a higher calling, triumphing through unity.
The action returns to the exhibit in the morning, where Po concludes the tale of how the Masters’ Council was formed in Gongmen City. Yet Shifu, ever watchful, arrives to remind Po that his misadventure isn’t over: Po is tasked with repairing the roof he damaged during the break-in. With twenty minutes to spare before the exhibit opens, Po accidentally seals himself inside a sarcophagus that once served as Su Wu’s prison cell and—utterly unfazed—decides to take a power nap, leaving the roof still unfinished. >Remember the path
