Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu

Following her father's death, Meenakshi joins her sister Uma and brother-in-law Pavithran in the small village Krishnagudi. The jovial, army-connected household brings a light-hearted atmosphere that slowly lifts her spirits. She begins adjusting to village life while seeking a sense of belonging.

Giri, a family friend of Pavithran, falls in love with Meenakshi. He is gentle and kind, which contrasts with her uncertainty about romance in the new setting. Meenakshi remains aloof, unsure of whether to reciprocate.

Meenakshi's spoiled cousin Akhil Chandran is under her father's protection and is seen as the ideal match. Her father had long insisted that Meenakshi marry Akhil, even after his deathbed vow. Akhil's possessive behavior has created tension in the family.

Pavi and Uma decide that Meenakshi should wait six months for Akhil to return. If he does not reappear within that period, she should accept Giri as her husband. Meenakshi agrees to the plan, and she sends a mail to Akhil announcing the decision, but there is no reply.

Akhil vanishes for a long time, leaving the family anxious about his fate. Meenakshi mails Akhil informing him of the six-month plan, but there is no response. The absence fuels Giri and Meenakshi's growing closeness as they await his return.

During Akhil's absence, Giri remains supportive and their bond deepens as they spend time together. The evolving relationship adds complexity to Meenakshi's commitments. Despite the tension, she still contemplates her future with Giri.

One evening, Renji, a friend of Akhil, visits Giri's quarter bearing unsettling news. He reveals that Akhil had an accident on his way to Krishnagudi and is now partially paralysed. Renji has to leave for the U.S., so Akhil should be handed over to Meenakshi.

Giri and his roommate Jose decide to take Akhil to a vacant quarter nearby to care for him secretly. Akhil, now paralysed, does not want to burden Meenakshi and asks her to marry Giri instead. They keep Akhil's condition hidden from Meenakshi and Pavithran for the time being.

Giri cannot keep the secret any longer and reveals to Meenakshi and Pavithran that Akhil has been hidden and is now dependent, changing the dynamics of the proposed marriage. He explains Akhil's insistence that Meenakshi choose Giri to avoid being a burden. The revelation forces Meenakshi to confront her moral responsibilities.

Meenakshi believes it is her moral duty to take care of Akhil and resolves to leave Krishnagudi with him. Pavithran and Uma agree to accompany them to Kerala to help with the transition. The departure marks a difficult, emotionally charged moment for both households.

Pavi and Uma join the departure to Kerala to ensure Akhil receives support on the journey. Meenakshi prepares to start a new life in Kerala while caring for Akhil. The sense of duty collides with the growing tension between the two potential life partners, Giri and Akhil.

In a wrenching finale, at the last moment on the moving train, Akhil uses his remaining strength to push Meenakshi out the door and tells her to join Giri for the rest of her life. Meenakshi is shocked but determined to follow her heart, while Pavithran and Uma watch in disbelief. The gesture seals the choice that Meenakshi has to make between duty and love.
