What Happens in Koi Aap Sa: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Koi Aap Sa (2005) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

In this emotionally intricate drama, Rohan and Simi are longtime friends, while Preeti from college catches Rohan’s eye. With a gentle push from Simi, the trio’s bond begins to tilt toward romance, but Preeti soon feels awkward, insecure, and jealous, worried that the close friendship between Rohan and Simi is overshadowing her place in the picture.

Simi’s fiancé, [Vicky](/actor/h himanshu-malik), arrives with his good friend Ranjit, complicating the situation further. Preeti learns that Vicky is Simi’s fiancé and that their engagement party is scheduled for tomorrow. At the engagement party, Simi dances with Vicky, while Rohan dances with Preeti, underscoring the shifting dynamics among friends and lovers.

After the party, Vicky leaves for a business trip, and Rohan, Simi, and Preeti attend another gathering. During the party, while Rohan and Preeti are dancing, Ranjit visits Simi with a seemingly innocent motive—he claims he was on the way to the airport and wanted to bring Simi a gift, noting how her family had cared for him during his stay in India. He suggests they retrieve the gift from the cab, and Simi reluctantly follows him.

Tragically, before they reach the cab, Ranjit violently assaults Simi, pushing her into a spare room and raping her. Simi calls out Rohan’s name, but by the time he arrives it is too late to change what has happened. Rohan gives chase, but the cab is involved in an accident and Ranjit dies. Simi chooses not to tell Vicky immediately and resolves to tell him in person.

On the way to pick Vicky up from the airport, Simi talks to Rohan on the phone when a new accident overwhelms her. In the hospital, the doctor informs Rohan that Simi is pregnant and that an abortion would be very risky, a fact Vicky overhears. No one believes Simi when she accuses Ranjit of rape; her parents and Vicky blame Rohan, and Vicky ends the engagement.

Rohan decides to stand by Simi and the baby, even proposing to her to shield her from additional humiliation; they become engaged. Just as the wedding draws near and Simi’s pregnancy progresses, Vicky returns, realizing his mistake and asking for a second chance, which Simi grants. Rohan pretends to be happy for the couple, though his heart remains with Simi.

At Rohan’s football match, Simi explains to Vicky that they are only pretending to be a couple so that Rohan and Preeti can rekindle their relationship. Preeti then steps in and tells Simi that Rohan loves Simi and only Simi. Simi goes into labor, and everyone rushes her to the hospital. She gives birth to a baby girl, and when the nurse asks who the father is, Simi names Rohan. In the end, Simi and Rohan are together, their love strengthened by the trials they faced.

Koi Aap Sa Plot Explained: Your Questions Answered

The questions people ask most about Koi Aap Sa (2005): what happens in the confusing scenes, why the characters do what they do, the twists, hidden details and what the ending means. Each answer contains spoilers.

Q1

Why does Preeti feel insecure about Rohan and Simi's friendship?

Preeti feels insecure because she notices how close Rohan and Simi are as longtime friends. Since Rohan and Preeti are still in the early stages of their relationship, she worries that the existing bond between Rohan and Simi overshadows her place in Rohan's life, making her feel like an outsider in their circle.

Foreshadowing: Earlier, Simi nudges Rohan and Preeti toward romance, which initially seems supportive but also highlights how central Simi already is to Rohan.

  • preeti
  • insecurity
  • rohan simi friendship
  • jealousy
  • romantic triangle
Q2

How does Simi get assaulted by Ranjit?

After the engagement party, Ranjit visits Simi at her home under the pretense of bringing a gift from his cab, claiming her family had cared for him during his stay. Simi reluctantly agrees to retrieve the gift. Before reaching the cab, Ranjit pushes her into a spare room and rapes her. Rohan hears her scream and arrives too late to prevent the assault.

Foreshadowing: Ranjit's arrival with Vicky at the engagement party is marked as a complicating factor, hinting at the danger he represents.

  • ranjit
  • assault
  • simi
  • rape
  • gift excuse
Q3

Why does no one believe Simi's accusation against Ranjit?

When Simi accuses Ranjit of rape, her parents and Vicky blame Rohan instead, refusing to believe her. This disbelief likely stems from social stigma around sexual assault accusations, the trauma of processing what happened, and perhaps the shock of accepting that someone within their social circle could commit such an act. The refusal to believe the victim isolates Simi further.

Foreshadowing: The violent assault itself is kept hidden from public knowledge, creating a context where only Simi knows the truth.

  • simi accusation
  • ranjit
  • not believed
  • victim blaming
  • family reaction
Q4

Why does Rohan propose to Simi after the assault?

Rohan decides to stand by Simi and offers to marry her to protect her from further humiliation and social ostracization. His proposal is an act of loyalty and protection, he wants to shield her from the scandal's consequences and provide stability for both her and the unborn child, even though the pregnancy stems from the assault.

Foreshadowing: Rohan's chase after hearing Simi's scream establishes his protective instincts toward her.

  • rohan proposes
  • simi
  • protection
  • marriage
  • support
Q5

Why does Vicky return and ask for a second chance with Simi?

Vicky returns after realizing his mistake in abandoning Simi when she needed him most. Upon learning about Simi's pregnancy and the high-risk nature of any abortion, he recognizes that he acted hastily by ending the engagement and blaming her. He asks for forgiveness and a second chance, which Simi grants.

Foreshadowing: Simi had planned to tell Vicky about the assault in person, showing her commitment to honesty in their relationship.

  • vicky returns
  • second chance
  • forgiveness
  • mistake
Q6

Why do Simi and Rohan pretend to be a couple?

Simi and Rohan pretend to be an engaged couple so that Rohan and Preeti can rekindle their relationship without guilt or interference. The fabrication allows Preeti to see that Rohan is "available" and to pursue him openly, while Simi appears to be taken, removing any perceived barrier between Rohan and Preeti.

Foreshadowing: At the football match, Simi explains this plan, revealing the constructed nature of their public relationship.

  • fake couple
  • preeti
  • rohan
  • simi
  • pretend relationship
Q7

Why does Preeti tell Simi that Rohan loves her?

Preeti reveals Rohan's true feelings because she recognizes that Rohan's heart belongs to Simi, not to her. Despite the opportunity to pursue Rohan while he and Simi pretended to be a couple, Preeti chooses honesty over personal gain. She wants Simi to know that Rohan's love for her is genuine and unwavering.

Foreshadowing: Earlier scenes establish Rohan's deep connection to Simi, showing his feelings were always directed at her.

  • preeti tells
  • rohan loves simi
  • honesty
  • reveal feelings
Q8

Why does Simi name Rohan as the father of her baby?

When the nurse asks who the father is after Simi gives birth to a baby girl, she names Rohan. This signifies her choice to build a life with Rohan and for him to be the father figure in her child's life. It also represents her acceptance of the new family unit they have formed through their trials together, choosing love and commitment over the traumatic origin of the pregnancy.

Foreshadowing: Rohan's proposal and vow to stand by Simi throughout her pregnancy set the foundation for this decision.

  • simi names rohan
  • father
  • baby
  • choose love
  • family
Q9

What happens to Ranjit after the assault?

After assaulting Simi, Ranjit flees in the cab. Rohan gives chase but before they can reach the cab, it becomes involved in a fatal accident. Ranjit dies in the crash, ending any possibility of legal justice for the crime he committed. His death leaves Simi's accusation without a perpetrator to hold accountable.

Foreshadowing: Rohan's immediate pursuit after hearing Simi's scream sets the chase in motion.

  • ranjit dies
  • accident
  • chase
  • justice
  • consequences
Q10

Why is Simi's pregnancy considered high-risk?

After Simi is rushed to the hospital following an accident, doctors discover she is pregnant from the assault. The medical team informs Rohan that an abortion would be very risky for Simi's health. This revelation puts Simi in an incredibly difficult position, as she must navigate the trauma of the assault while facing a dangerous pregnancy.

Foreshadowing: The assault occurs before anyone knows about the pregnancy, making the later hospital revelation a devastating twist.
