Knights of Badassdom

In a charming rustic forest, a group of friends sets out on an exciting LARP adventure; however, their fun is swiftly interrupted by an aggressive group of “paintballers.” Amid this chaos, Joe Revitt, played by Peter Dinklage, finds his world turned upside down when his girlfriend Beth abruptly ends their relationship. To help him cope with his heartbreak, his buddies Eric and Hung, portrayed by Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten, devise a plan to take him to a fantasy LARP event, believing that the thrill of the game will be just the distraction he needs.

Upon arriving at the event, they encounter Ronnie Kwok, the self-styled Game Master, who harbors a personal vendetta against Joe due to a past humiliation during a Dungeons & Dragons game. In a bid to remedy the tense situation, Eric starts reciting passages from a mysterious grimoire he acquired online. Little do they know, this ancient book houses genuine Enochian spells capable of summoning powerful and otherworldly entities.

As Eric’s incantations inadvertently call forth a malevolent succubus that strikingly resembles Joe’s former flame, Beth, the LARP takes a dark turn. In the meantime, Hung takes it upon himself to teach Joe the ropes of combat in this fantastical world, while Joe develops an unexpected connection with a fellow LARPer named Gwen. The plot thickens as Gwen’s brutish cousin Gunther believes their escapades have morphed into a real-life fantasy adventure.

As the game escalates, the succubus begins to wreak havoc and as the death toll rises, both Hung and their friend Lando fall victim to its wrath. Ronnie narrowly escapes, revealing his true nature as a sorcerer in this chaotic landscape. Joe, Eric, Gwen, and Gunther stumble upon a horrific scene, only to find themselves face-to-face with the very succubus they believed they had defeated. In a desperate attempt to turn the tide, Eric recites another Enochian incantation, which gravely injures the fiend but inadvertently summons a massive nightmarish creature, with the power to consume them all.

As the enchanting yet perilous world of “Evermore” materializes around them, an ill-timed LARP battle erupts unexpectedly. Suddenly, the earlier paintball attack intensifies, forcing LARPers to either flee or bravely confront the incoming assault. Amid the chaos, the rampaging succubus continues its onslaught, taking down many, including Ronnie and the unfortunate paintballers, leaving Johnny, one of the assistant game masters, as the last man standing. Gunther’s timely intervention saves Johnny from certain doom.

After this catastrophic clash, Joe, Eric, and Gwen unite their forces to confront the terrifying creature, utilizing a paintball truck as a strategic tool to trap it. Armed with a mystical gem from the ancient grimoire, Joe channels his inner rock star, unleashing a heavy metal incantation that conjures a spectral version of Hung, who bravely dispatches the beast.

Fast-forward six months, and Joe and Gwen have joined forces to create a doom metal band, resolved to leave their LARPing escapades behind. Joe appears to have moved on from his heartache with Beth. Meanwhile, Gunther’s faith in his warrior abilities is reignited. Even in death, Ronnie’s legacy persists, recognized as “game master extraordinaire.” Lastly, Eric reaches new heights of magical skill, dabbling in ancient Enochian arts as he ascends to the impressive rank of 27th-level sorcerer. The legendary battle between Hung and the monstrous entity is now forever etched in the lore of Evermore.
