Found in Nuremberg in May 1828, a boy who can speak only fragments and knows nothing of his past is called Kaspar Hauser. The film dramatizes the suspected conditions of his lifelong confinement in a hidden room, suggesting a plot involving aristocratic circles. Five years after his release, he is stabbed to death in December 1833 by an unknown assailant.
