Nataraj, Natarajan Subramaniam, known as the kingmaker, is a powerful benefactor and the brother-in-law of the bedridden Chief Minister GNR. He pushes GNR’s daughter, Keerthana, into the political arena and secures her role as Education Minister despite her initial reluctance. Keerthana, who had once met Thamizh during a trek and fallen in love, finds herself navigating a rapidly shifting political landscape. Thamizh, HipHop Tamizha Adhi, an orphan with a sharp mind, becomes her guide, shaping her choices and proposing a forward-looking education policy that earns broad public support. Yet Nataraj, wary of Keerthana’s rising influence, orders his ally Commissioner Prakash Amudhavanan to uncover the mastermind behind her political moves. Meanwhile, the Government of India probes a Republic-money laundering scheme, intensifying the pressure on everyone involved.
The clash between power, money, and influence intensifies as a cache of black money—denominated in Republic currency and stored in containers at the Chennai Harbour—threatens to topple the government. To prevent the opposition from turning state evidence, Nataraj engineers a tactical detention by state police and a staged release plan, while orchestrating a riot at Puratchi Veeran Pulipandi’s meeting to put Tamil Nadu under police grip and delay any CBI probe. Keerthana and Thamizh become entangled in the violence, and a bomb blast kills Thamizh’s friend while he’s wrongly branded a terrorist. The riot spreads, rallying public support against Pulipandi’s arrest as a paramilitary force steps in, and an emergency seems imminent. To blunt the CBI’s reach, Nataraj weaponizes the reputation of Revolution Star Rishikanth, urging him to speak out against Pulipandi. An emergency Defence Council convenes as Republic warships breach India’s waters near Visakhapatnam, prompting the army’s hurried mobilization toward Chennai Harbour. Despite Central Ramki’s resistance, the state declares an emergency and takes charge of Tamil Nadu’s security, detaining the opposition leader.
As the intrigue deepens, Nataraj learns from Prakash Amudhavanan that Thamizh once served as a special gun marshal with the UN anti-poaching squad, prompting a brutal turn as Nataraj orders his death. The chase culminates with Major Prabhjoth Singh arresting Nataraj on charges of squandering black money. On February 15, 2029, air raids blanket Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai, even threatening ISRO’s space station with radiation. Chennai endures relentless bombardments as the Madras Regiment’s base—along with Pulipandi, Prabhjoth, Dass, Perumal, and the opposition leader—sees a mass exodus from the office amid the chaos. Republic troops, led by a Sri Lankan command, infiltrate Tamil Nadu, and the Indian army bears the brunt of a brutal guerrilla war while GNR is proclaimed Prime Minister of the Southern Province. General Tso’s forces, aided by the espionage agent Chu Khoy Sheng, establish eight concentration camps as supplies dwindle and the vulnerable—the elderly and injured—become targets.
In Masinagudi, Thamizh surfaces with a small, hidden camp, while Nataraj wakes from a coma to find Pulipandi, Prabhjoth, Dass, Perumal, and others rallying behind Thamizh. Nataraj’s attempt to seize control fails, but a sober, tragic death of a pregnant woman shifts his stance, and he casts his lot with Thamizh. Together they discover that the aluminum ore being mined serves a hidden purpose—frames for communication antennas rather than simple resources. Thamizh crafts a daring plan to seize Priyanka and press for negotiations with General Tso. The mission splits into three teams: Thamizh attacks the maintenance room, Dass and Perumal infiltrate the loading dock, and Prabhjoth penetrates the mines, using mad honey to weaken Republic soldiers.
A high-stakes showdown unfolds: Thamizh captures Priyanka, releasing captives, though Perumal is killed in the firefight. Pulipandi’s misstep fractures the negotiation, forcing Thamizh to pivot and threaten to send Priyanka’s and other soldiers’ bodies back to Chennai as a blunt warning. Disguised, Thamizh infiltrates a torture camp; Nataraj reunites GNR and Keerthana with Thamizh, only to be betrayed by Nataraj, allowing Republic forces to seize them. The twist reveals that the bodies in Masinagudi are actually Prabhjoth and his team, detonated throughout the camp while Pulipandi redirects soldiers to a TV station and is ultimately captured by Prakash. In a climactic turn, Thamizh kills General Tso, and GNR is rescued, but Chu Khoy Sheng triggers a metro bombing that collapses the camp and destroys the complex.
With the Republic army weakened, the people rally to reclaim their sovereignty in what is hailed as the 2nd War of Indian Independence. Political rivals soon put aside their differences, Pulipandi and GNR reconcile, Nataraj embraces Prakash, and Thamizh reunites with Keerthana. Seeing Thamizh’s leadership, Nataraj vows to remain as his kingmaker. The mid-credits scene adds a final twist: the war did not come from human hands alone, but from AI robots, hinting at a deeper, unseen force behind the conflict.
