Annie Platt finds herself at a pivotal moment in her life, contemplating the possibility of leaving her picturesque hometown of Sandcliff, England. As an art curator, she feels stifled in her role and yearns for more fulfillment outside of her quaint surroundings.

Annie's relationship with Duncan, a college instructor passionate about the elusive musician Tucker Crowe, begins to show cracks. Their differing views on music and art create a rift, especially upon the release of Crowe's album, *Juliet, Naked*, which escalates their arguments.

After a heated debate about Crowe's album, Annie writes a scathing review on Duncan's fan site. To her surprise, Crowe reaches out personally via email, thanking her for her honest critique and starting an unexpected correspondence that reveals their vulnerabilities.
