Jagan is a lively youth who spends his days with friends and uses his violin to help others. His father works as an assistant to an unsuccessful politician who serves two brothers. This setup frames his blend of mischief and generosity that drives the romance to come.

Jagan spots Jamuna in a bookstore and instantly falls for her. Jamuna's protective father beats him when he tries to approach. This rough reception plants the seed for a fated romance.

Jamuna apologizes for the harsh welcome, and the two talk. They share a cup of coffee, and Jagan expresses his strong wish to marry Jamuna. The moment hints at destiny guiding their paths toward each other.

Jamuna writes her name and address on a 100-rupee bill and tells Jagan that if either finds it within a year they should marry. They pay the waiter, but when Jagan tries to reclaim it, the bill has already been handed away. The bill becomes a symbolic bet between them.

With the bill lost, Jagan and his friends begin a determined search. Meanwhile, Jamuna returns to Kolkata, and Jagan must chase both the bill and his growing feelings from a distance.

In Kolkata, Jamuna receives a marriage proposal from family friend Guna. She realises she may be falling for Jagan and decides to keep her options open. She also enlists her cousin Meera to help locate the fateful bill.

Under forced circumstances, Jagan becomes engaged to Seema. Seema soon realises his heart still belongs to Jamuna. The engagement creates a growing tension as both women and families pull at him.

Jamuna manages to get the bill while eating Pani Puri, but a petty thief snatches the money. She breaks down in despair, and Meera scolds her for abandoning Jagan in Chennai.

Seema locates the book Jamuna had left at the cafe and gives it to Jagan. On reading the Bengali words, Jagan realises Jamuna is from Bengal and his resolve to find her grows stronger.

Jagan heads toward Kolkata and Jamuna moves toward Chennai to confess, but their trains cross at Vizag, causing them to miss each other. The distance between them feels insurmountable for a moment.

Jamuna arrives at Chennai and reaches Jagan's house, where she learns Meera is a close friend who shares the same hostel. Jagan's father then lies to protect him, leaving Jamuna distraught and confused.

Meera heads to Kolkata to relay crucial news to Jamuna and helps bridge the growing distance between them. Jamuna breaks down again, overwhelmed by the tumbling events.

Back in Chennai, Jagan finds the note and declares his intention to marry Jamuna. Seema's elder brother confronts him, but the second elder brother supports the match, providing a glimmer of hope.

Meera and Jamuna come to Chennai to clear the path to the union, while Guna finally sacrifices his own love to help them succeed. The ties between families and lovers begin to tighten.

In the final moment, Jamuna and Jagan meet at a coffee shop and decide to unite, overcoming the obstacles that stood in their way. Their love triumphs as friends and family come to terms with their bond.
