Mike Regan is a self-made aviation tycoon living in a state-of-the-art smart house with his wife Rose and daughter Kaitlyn. His company is developing Omni Jet, a new app intended to boost business while it secures capital through a stock offering. The project requires approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Ed Porter arrives to fix the home's Wi‑Fi and upgrades the car's GPS. Kaitlyn complains about slow connections, and the password 'ReganHouse1' reveals weak security. Porter also claims past NSA work and Kandahar involvement to impress.

Porter begins a relationship with Kaitlyn through social media after meeting at home. Mike fires him when Kaitlyn invites Porter into the house, ending his promising career. Porter swears revenge and starts to spy on the family.

Porter covertly accesses Mike's private data and the smart-house network. He monitors security cameras and devices, watching Kaitlyn and secretly recording her in the shower. His intrusion pushes the situation from uncomfortable to dangerous.

Porter sends fake emails to Mike's clients and SEC, threatening the survival of the company. The impersonated communications create a crisis of confidence and threaten the stock offering. The family realizes someone is inside their network.

Porter uses a spoofed message to convince Rose she tested positive for breast cancer, triggering extreme distress. In reality, the test results are negative. Mike learns that the threats are coming from inside his own house.

Porter uploads a video of Kaitlyn, shown masturbating, onto the internet. The clip shocks her classmates and classmates at school; she blames her father for the household's invasive technology. The incident marks a turning point in the family's safety.

Mike confronts Porter, who taunts him through the car's navigation system. Porter remotely deactivates the car's brake system, causing a collision with a stalled truck. The family is terrified as their safety is endangered.

Mike seeks help from Henrik, an IT expert. Henrik explains Porter’s true identity and reveals that the supposed NSA work and Kandahar photo were lies. He advises destroying the smart technology and erasing digital footprints.

Henrik stages a diversion by stealing a waitress's phone and texting Porter to lure him away from his apartment. Mike sneaks into Porter’s apartment, retrieves thumb drives, and escapes as Porter returns.

Porter realizes the masked intruder was Mike and frames him for assault. Police arrest Mike as he tries to hand over the thumb drives and evidence. The arrest complicates Mike's effort to expose Porter.

Back at the house, Porter holds Kaitlyn and Rose at gunpoint. A struggle ensues; Porter shoots a window and Mike punches him, sending Porter crashing to the floor as Rose begs Mike not to kill him. Porter lies dying as the family grapples with the danger they faced.

Some time later, the company employees applaud Mike and his family for successfully delivering the Omni Jet app and surviving the ordeal. The Regan house is restored and life returns to normal for the family.
