During the Santhanpara crayon factory strike, police led by CI Karunan attack a peaceful protesting mob. The Home Minister, who is about to go abroad, is briefed but remains apart from the confrontation. SP Ilavarasan arrives at the scene, defends the action as self-defense, and tries to contain the situation.

SP Ilavarasan shows loyalty to the minister and notes the minister's irritation from mosquito bites. He calls a pest controller, slaps the pest controller, and warns him not to repeat it. The SP then happily sends the minister on his way.

Janaki, a doctor, is in love with Ashwin, a wildlife photographer. To help him navigate urban life, she gifts him a smartphone. Their families oppose the affair, creating tension before the bus sequence.

Ashwin's bike is stolen, and the police locate it. Vivek questions him by phone about why he didn't thank the CI; Ashwin says it is his duty and hints at a bribe. The exchange hints at corruption surrounding the police.

Janaki jolts back to the present on a bus and heads to the nearest police station without revealing her reason. She confesses to the officers that she killed and buried her friend Vivek. The revelation triggers a police-led investigation.

Initially the police doubt Janaki, but news spreads that Vivek is missing. Janaki speaks to the media and reveals the murder, forcing the case into the public gaze. The pursuit of the truth intensifies as evidence mounts.

The police take Janaki to the murder site. She twists her words to implicate CI Karunan in the murders. The CI slaps her, triggering a crowd to turn against the police.

SP Ilavarasan arrives and orders a dig at the site. They uncover a body not Vivek's, followed by a second body identified as Ashwin. A smartwatch belonging to Karunan is found, pointing toward his involvement.

The SP interrogates Janaki and Karunan, and Karunan begins to reveal what actually happened. He recounts the fifteen-year conspiracy: Dineshan's fear of losing the election, Ganeshan's false harassment accusation, and the murder carried out with driver Prakashan.

Karunan explains the accident that killed Ganeshan and the subsequent cover-up. Driver Prakashan's guilt grows, leading Karunan to lure and kill him in the forest. Ashwin, who witnessed the events, is killed by Karunan as well.

After Karunan confesses, he is remanded. That night he tries to reach the minister but receives no help and commits suicide. Janaki is freed based on his confession and explains how she found Ashwin's body and reached the police station.

In the film credits, an SI questions how Ashwin left his glasses, hinting at Janaki's possible involvement. The SP had appreciated Janaki's bravery and resolves to support her, asking the minister to close the Karunan chapter.

That night, three people enter the police station and kill Karunan in the presence of SP and Janaki. The incident shatters the case's closure and raises new questions about power and justice.

Janaki sits with the minister, watching a recorded murder video. The scene leaves the audience with a tense sense of unresolved danger and the sense that truth and justice remain contested.
