James and Em arrive at the picturesque resort in Li Tolqa, where they plan to enjoy a getaway. The atmosphere is vibrant due to a local festival, but underlying tension in their marriage is evident from the start.

The couple encounters Gabi Bauer, an enthusiastic admirer of James's work, who invites them to dinner with her husband, Alban. Although the evening begins charmingly, it sets off a series of events that will complicate their holiday.

The next day, despite warnings to stay within the resort, the four decide to explore the countryside. This decision marks the beginning of their descent into the bizarre and dangerous realities of Li Tolqa.

During a beach outing, James finds himself in a compromising situation with Gabi, further straining his marriage. The carefree atmosphere begins to shift as tensions rise and boundaries blur.

On their joyride back to the hotel, tragedy strikes when James accidentally runs over a local man, resulting in a fatality. This shocking turn of events plunges him into a life-threatening predicament.

Gabi, sensing the gravity of the situation, advises James against contacting the authorities. She informs him about the local government's notorious corruption, further complicating his moral dilemma.

The next day, James is arrested and learns that the punishment for his crime is death, to be enacted by the deceased man's son. However, Li Tolqa’s legal system offers a bizarre alternative—execution by clone.

Desperate to escape death, James chooses to pay to witness the execution of his clone. This grotesque experience horrifies Em, but James, driven by fascination, chooses to stay at the resort.

While at the resort, James reconnects with Gabi and Alban, who introduce him to a rogue circle of tourists who revel in their violent pasts. This group encourages him to indulge in debauchery and criminality.

In a drug-fueled night, James is manipulated into brutally attacking a clone of himself, believing it to be the arresting officer. This moment marks his full submission to the dark influences around him.

After the brutal attack, James retrieves his hidden passport to flee the resort. However, he is caught by the group of tourists who revel in his downfall, further binding him to their dark agenda.

Injured and shaken, James escapes into the wilderness, where he is taken in by a local family. Although he recovers physically, he is haunted by hallucinations of his violent past.

When his tormentors return, they demand he kill another clone to solidify his transformation into a 'murder tourist.' Initially resistant, James ultimately succumbs to the violence once more when faced with survival.

Following another brutal act, Gabi surprises James with a provocative invitation that deepens his moral crisis and his entanglement in the dark world of crime and clone executions.

As they prepare to return to the United States, the other tourists discuss mundane tasks, while James is consumed by his inner turmoil. At the airport, he makes the fateful choice to stay behind, seeking solace at the now-abandoned resort.
