I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer

On July 4, 2004, in Broken Ridge, Amber Williams, her boyfriend Colby Patterson and friends Zoe, Roger, and PJ stage a prank at the town carnival. Roger impersonates the Fisherman killer, but PJ is impaled on a tractor smokestack instead of the mattresses, sending the crowd into a panic. The public blames the Fisherman, and the friends burn the evidence and vow to keep the incident a secret.

One year later, Amber returns to Broken Ridge to discover that Colby's internship in Los Angeles never pushed through and Sheriff Davis resents PJ's friends for his death. Tension grows as the town's memories of the prank linger and Amber senses an ominous presence returning.

She travels up into the nearby mountains where Deputy Haffner, one of the officers who witnessed the accident, reveals himself to be suspicious and tight-lipped about the past. The encounter foreshadows that the danger is not over.

That night, Amber awakens to 50 text messages reading I know what you did last summer. She drives to Zoe's shack, where Zoe lets Amber stay for the night as they try to process the messages.

The next day they locate Roger and Colby, but the group is dismissive about the texts. During this time, Amber is attacked on a ski-lift by a figure wielding a hooked weapon.

A drunken Roger contemplates suicide with the hook from the prank; when he investigates a noise, he is attacked and killed by the Fisherman. The trio discovers Roger dead alongside a suicide note and the hooked weapon.

Deputy Haffner arrives to take their statements about the events. Later, back at Amber's house, they find yearbook photos sliced up and arranged on the wall with the word SOON scrawled across them, signaling a chilling threat.

The group holed up at Zoe's place; Lance, PJ's cousin, arrives and suggests Sheriff Davis might be the killer, showing a message engraved on his motorbike as proof.

Colby is injured by the Fisherman while swimming, heightening the sense of danger. The four consider leaving town, but Zoe decides to stay after hearing a major talent scout will attend the town festival, hoping for her band's break.

Zoe performs at the festival, but the Fisherman attacks, stabbing Zoe and throwing her from a balcony to her death. Sheriff Davis arrives to confront Amber and Lance, but is killed by the killer as well.

The Fisherman then attacks Colby in a kitchen and hooks him in the mouth, killing him. The group reels from the personal loss as the danger closes in.

Amber and Lance encounter Deputy Haffner, who reveals Roger told him about the accident. The Fisherman then attacks Haffner and impales him on a forklift.

Amber and Lance drive away and run the Fisherman down. The killer rises again, revealed to be the undead Ben Willis, the man who committed the original murders eight years ago.

The two are chased into a warehouse where Amber and Ben's fight reaches a fever pitch. Amber stabs Ben in the head and pushes him into a thresher, killing him.

One year after the events, Amber is driving across the desert when a tire blows out and she loses reception. Ben appears behind her and the screen cuts to black as Amber's scream is heard, suggesting the killer's return may be inevitable.
