Carnival prank ends in tragedy

On July 4, 2004, in Broken Ridge, Amber Williams, her boyfriend Colby Patterson and friends Zoe, Roger, and PJ stage a prank at the town carnival. Roger impersonates the Fisherman killer, but PJ is impaled on a tractor smokestack instead of the mattresses, sending the crowd into a panic. The public blames the Fisherman, and the friends burn the evidence and vow to keep the incident a secret.

One year later, Amber returns to Broken Ridge to discover that Colby's internship in Los Angeles never pushed through and Sheriff Davis resents PJ's friends for his death. Tension grows as the town's memories of the prank linger and Amber senses an ominous presence returning.
