Charlie, an ex-scientist, travels to Harrisford, Oregon to promote his new book. During a local signing, the storm slams the town; Nora is injured and Charlie barely escapes with her, while many others are killed.

Eric and Ashley drive toward Harrisford as part of their university course and notice unusual weather patterns. In town, Nora is taken to hospital and Charlie re-connects with Joanne and Damon at the scene. The crisis deepens as the backstories of the scientists unfold.

Joanne orders Damon to call backer Frank to stop the UAV program, but Frank insists the experiment cannot be stopped until it’s finished. The UAVs continue to fly, despite mounting concerns from the team. The backer’s stubborn stance tightens the political pressure.
