Frank Hurley (1885‑1962) was Australia’s leading photographer by 1925. Preferring the majesty of nature, his images appeared in books, newspapers and documentary films. In December 1911 he joined Mawson’s Antarctic expedition as official photographer; his striking stills were published and formed the 1913 documentary “Home of the Blizzard.”
