Theresa, an imaginative and rebellious orphan from Brooklyn, dreams of breaking into show business. She launches a series of outrageous publicity stunts to thrust herself into the spotlight, refusing to let her modest background hold her back. Eventually she crosses paths with Sammy Cohen, a once‑rising star whose career collapsed because of alcoholism, and he becomes her unlikely mentor, offering guidance and a chance at redemption.
