The Danyliuk family arrives in Canada and struggles to acclimate to a new life. They rely on welfare as they adjust to economic hardship and cultural change. This difficult start shapes Alex's worldview and sense of security.

Alex has few friends and spends most of his time online, building an income as a Clicker by generating traffic for websites. His skills in the digital world begin to form the foundation for later criminal activity. The online environment becomes his escape from real-life struggles.

Alex leaves home to attend college in Toronto and seeks extra money through illegal means. He partners with Sye to steal and traffic credit-card data, dipping his toes into the darker side of crime. The lure of easy money pulls him further from legitimate life.

Alex is caught attempting to defraud the International Bank of Canada. He convinces Curtis, the bank's Head of Security, to let him go by offering to fix the bank's insecure systems for free. The deal buys his freedom but pulls him deeper into dangerous, high-stakes hacking.

The hack leaks to the Dark Web, and Alex receives praise for compromising a bank in an unconventional way. This fame draws the attention of Zed, a mysterious masked figure who supposedly runs the Dark Web. The stage is set for larger, riskier schemes.

Alex meets Kira, a young hacker introduced through Sye. She teaches them new methods like printing counterfeit cards and using Bitcoin, broadening their criminal toolkit. The trio begins earning more money, though Sye grows skeptical of Kira's customers.

Kira proposes relocating to Hong Kong, arguing that is where people like them belong. Alex hesitates to abandon Sye, who has been with him from the start. The idea signals a shift toward a more global and dangerous operation.

During a deal in Hong Kong, a heated argument over terms leads to a gun being fired by a client. The incident forces a relocation and results in Sye and Alex ending up in jail for a time. Kira later bails them out, hinting at a deeper connection through 'my uncle'.

Alex and Kira travel through Hong Kong, withdrawing about 2.3 million while leaving Dark Web calling cards behind. Kira talks about retirement, but Alex wants to press on. Their operation catches Zed's eye, pulling him into their world.

Zed, now in a wheelchair with a burned face, meets Alex and Kira in an old factory to recruit them for a mission that could crash the stock market. He warns that failure will threaten their families' lives. They agree to undertake the dangerous assignment.

Sye returns to Hong Kong and contacts Alex from their hotel, but Colombian bankers' men reach the hotel first and kill Sye. Alex and Kira press on with Zed's plan toward the Federal Reserve. The operation becomes more perilous as the stakes rise.

On the way to the Federal Reserve, the Chairman is shot and the stock market crashes. Alex and Kira publish pre-written articles to ensure the assassination is reported before the market closes, benefitting Zed. It becomes clear, however, that Zed is an imposter and the assassination was orchestrated as a fake.

Alex is captured after a gunpoint abduction and injected with a mysterious liquid in an abandoned office. He later heads to Bangkok to meet Kira, who does not show up. A pick-up call triggers the police to arrest him, ending his immediate escape attempt.

Two years in prison pass before a Royal Pardon frees Alex. At the gates, Kira reveals she has been working with the FBI to catch Zed. They decide to team up and drive off together, starting a new chapter away from their old lives.

The story ends on a note of cautious hope as Alex and Kira walk away together, leaving the Dark Web life behind. Kira's FBI affiliation reframes their future, offering a chance at redemption despite the lingering shadows. Their journey forward remains uncertain but shared.
