When he leaves home to attend college in Toronto, the pressure to support himself nudges him toward a darker path, and he falls in with a street-smart hustler, Sye, who introduces him to the world of black‑market trading and stolen identities.

Together they push from petty fraud into targeted schemes, starting with lost and stolen credit cards and fake transactions. Alex is finally caught trying to defraud the International Bank of Canada—the very bank that fired his mom—and he negotiates a reckless deal with Curtis, the bank’s Head of Security, offering to fix the bank’s insecure site and computers for free in exchange for leniency. The plan backfires when the bank exposes the scheme, and the act is leaked to the Dark Web, earning him praise from anonymous peers who admire the audacity of hacking a bank through a face‑to‑face intrusion rather than a remote intrusion.

The trio—Alex, Sye, and the hacker—start raking in money, but Sye grows suspicious of the source and reach of Kira’s customers, worrying about who they are and where they come from. When Kira proposes relocating to Hong Kong, offering a chance for a fresh start, Alex wavers, torn between leaving his friend Sye behind or trying to bring him along.

Tensions reach a boiling point as a mid‑deal disruption tests loyalties. Sye pushes Kira’s customers to buy as much as they want, breaking the agreed terms, and a heated confrontation erupts—an armed customer fires into the air, declaring that no deal will ever happen again and warning that anyone who contacts their network will not be met politely. The fallout pushes the trio to relocate to Hong Kong, where the fragile balance of their operation becomes even more precarious. The plan accelerates toward a dangerous crescendo: Alex and Kira are ambushed, and Alex wakes in a stark, empty room with a cloth over his head as two men loom nearby. He is drugged and transported, then wakes in Bangkok, with no clear path back to Kira. When he tries to unravel what happened, the evidence points to Kira’s supposed death and to Zed’s apparent arrest. A police dragnet closes in as his card once again triggers a “pick up” alert, and he finds himself jailed after days of confusion and fear. After two long years, a Royal Pardon finally frees him, and at the gates of the prison, Kira appears once more.
