Goliath II tells the tender, humorous story of a tiny Indian elephant calf who is determined to prove himself to the herd’s behemoth patriarch. The very next day brings a new trial, this time sparked by a tiny, seemingly inconsequential source of fear: a mouse. The creature’s panic of the elephants sends the entire herd into a riverbank scramble, with Goliath’s mother clinging to a branch above the current. The mouse taunts the herd and finally targets Goliath, claiming that elephants should fear mice. A tense confrontation escalates, and in a dramatic leap of fate, Goliath exposes the mouse to a cliff’s edge above the same hungry crocodile that has stalked them before. The mouse pleads for mercy, and Goliath, with a surprising restraint and sense of justice, spares his life.

In the aftermath, a new respect blossoms. The herd’s dynamics shift as Goliath earns his father’s notice and finally secures a place of true standing among the elephants. The journey from an anxious, underestimated youngster to a valued member of the herd is the heart of this tale: a vivid portrait of growth, courage, and the patient, protective bond of family that helps a small elephant become a leader in his own right.
