Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla

The Azumi priestess experiences a vision of a city being destroyed by a giant monster. The prophecy foreshadows the coming threat and sets the events of the story in motion.

Masahiko Shimizu discovers space titanium while spelunking and takes it to Professor Miyajima for examination. The find becomes a key element in the plan to confront the monsters.

An excavation led by Keisuke uncovers a chamber filled with ancient artifacts and a mural bearing a prophecy about a black mountain above the clouds and a red moon. The mural foretells that two monsters will appear to save the people.

Archaeologist Saeko Kaneshiro joins Keisuke, translates the prophecy, and takes a statue bearing King Caesar’s likeness to study. Her work ties the ancient guardian to the forthcoming battle.

Two men stalk them—one posing as a reporter and the other trying to steal the statue. The pursuit adds danger as the relic’s significance becomes clear.

A black cloud resembling a mountain appears, and a Godzilla impostor emerges from Mount Fuji and rampages across the landscape. Anguirus confronts it, is injured, and is forced to retreat.

The real Godzilla arrives and confronts the Mechagodzilla impostor. The two giants injure each other and retreat to regroup.

Keisuke and Saeko return the statue to the temple but are confronted by the thief again. During the fight, half of the stranger’s face melts away to reveal a Simeon alien. A gunman kills the intruder, and Keisuke and Saeko glimpse Nanbara, the reporter.

Godzilla arrives on Monster Island during a thunderstorm and is struck by lightning multiple times, reinvigorating its power. The tempest seems to bolster the monster's resolve to face the threat.

Masahiko, Miyajima, and Ikuko are captured by Simeons in the cave and are forced to work as Kuronuma orders Miyajima to repair Mechagodzilla. The alien plan hinges on the completed mecha to conquer Earth.

Keisuke leaves the caves to meet Masahiko and teams up with Nanbara, an Interpol agent, who has been tracking the Simeons. They infiltrate the Simeon base and free some prisoners.

The next morning, a lunar eclipse produces a red moon and a mirage of the sun rising in the west. The team realizes they must awaken Caesar and place the statue in his temple to reveal Caesar's resting place. The priestess sings to awaken Caesar as Godzilla arrives and Mechagodzilla is dispatched.

Caesar awakens to join Godzilla in battle against Mechagodzilla. The two monsters coordinate to defeat the mecha, with Godzilla using an electromagnetic field to attract Mechagodzilla and tearing off its head.

While the Simeons are distracted, Nanbara and the others free themselves, kill their captors, and sabotage the base. They flee as the base explodes behind them.

With the enemy defeated, Godzilla heads to the ocean and Caesar returns to his resting place, while the humans rejoice at their hard-won victory.
