Godzilla vs. Hedorah

An amorphous extraterrestrial creature known as Hedorah is transported to Earth by a passing comet. It feeds on Earth's pollutants, growing from a sludge-like form into a poisonous sea monster capable of producing sulfuric acid. Its arrival marks the start of a pollution-fueled assault on the planet.

Hedorah sinks an oil tanker, contaminating the sea and threatening coastal communities. It then attacks Dr. Toru Yano and his young son Ken, leaving the doctor scarred. The incident reveals Hedorah's presence to the public and signals the scale of the threat.

Ken experiences visions of Godzilla fighting polluted cities and insists that Godzilla will come to mankind's aid. His belief gives people a glimmer of hope and frames the monster's role as Earth's last defense. The public reaction ranges from fear to cautious optimism.

Hedorah mutates into an amphibious form, allowing it to move onto land to feed on additional sources of pollution. The new form broadens its feeding grounds from sea to shore and city alike. The threat grows more immediate as it can attack both land and sea.

Hedorah heads toward a power station to consume the smoke from its chimneys, intensifying its pollution-based assault. Its reach expands into industrial sites as it expands across Japan. The attack foreshadows a broader campaign against human industry.

Godzilla confronts Hedorah, and the alien monster is easily overpowered, retreating back to the sea. During the clash, chunks of Hedorah break off and drift, later to regrow and strengthen the alien. The public starts fearing that Earth’s defenders may be overwhelmed.

Pieces broken from Hedorah during the fight crawl back to the sea and begin to regenerate, setting the stage for a renewed threat. The foe returns in a flying form and later in its full form, displaying new powers. The renewed threat raises the stakes for humanity and Godzilla alike.

Hedorah reappears in a flying form and then fully reconstitutes into its most powerful state yet. The threat expands as it demonstrates enhanced durability across air and land. The size of the menace drives nations toward a final, desperate defense.

Thousands of people across Japan die as Hedorah's raids devastate the country. A party is held on Mount Fuji as a grim countdown to humanity's possible extinction unfolds. Ken, Yukio Keuchi, Miki Fujinomiya, and others realize that Godzilla and Hedorah have converged on Mount Fuji for a decisive confrontation.

Godzilla is quickly outmatched by Hedorah’s durability and strength, suffering injuries such as an eye loss and a severe chemical burn to a hand. Hedorah tries to drown Godzilla with a deluge of chemical sludge and prevents any easy escape. The fight pushes both monsters to the brink.

Dr. Toru and his wife Toshie devise a plan to dry out Hedorah's body, believing dehydration could destroy the monster. The JSDF constructs two gigantic electrodes to carry out the plan, hoping to give Godzilla a chance to finish the fight. The escalation shifts from direct combat to a race against time.

The electrodes briefly lose power during the brutal duel, but Godzilla reactivates them with a blast of atomic breath to dehydrate Hedorah's exterior. Hedorah's body splits open and, unable to withstand the dehydration, its pieces disintegrate into dust. Godzilla returns to the sea, and Ken bids farewell to the hero before the credits.
