Alan, a perfectionist and mostly-closeted man from Minnesota, finds himself partnered with Jesse, an unpredictable and mysterious woman from West Virginia, on a children’s theatre tour across the Upper Midwest. These opposites are unsettled by each other and grappling with personal struggles, leading to an avoidance of intimacy. As they’re forced to spend time together, they begin to rewrite and redesign their shows, finding the courage to express themselves and build a new life.
