In 1945, second- and third‑year students of a Hiroshima girls’ school are conscripted to work in war factories. The remaining 220 first‑year girls become the only teenagers left in an almost deserted town, striving to make the best of wartime deprivations. On August 7, an American bomber drops the atomic bomb, shattering their lives. The program aired on the 43rd anniversary of Hiroshima in memory of the girls who perished.
