Against the bleak, industrial backdrop of a Dutch mining town, a group of Italian workers arrives seeking opportunity and a fresh start far from home. Among them is Vincenzo, a young miner whose journey intersects with that of Federico, an experienced laborer who takes the newcomer under his wing.
