French Kiss

Kate is living in Canada with fiancé Charlie and is hesitant to fly to Paris for his conference. She cites fear of flying, lactose intolerance, and her pending Canadian citizenship as reasons to stay. Charlie's invitation foreshadows the trip that will change everything.

Days later, Charlie reveals he has fallen for another woman and will not return. Determined to win him back, Kate boards a flight to Paris and ends up seated next to Luc Teyssier, who covertly hides a stolen diamond necklace in her bag. Luc hopes the bag search will pass unnoticed while he initiates his plan.

At the Paris airport, Inspector Cardon spots Luc and searches his bag for signs of crime. Cardon respects Luc because he once saved his life, and chooses not to arrest him on the spot. The tension between law, loyalty, and Luc's slick charm escalates the pursuit.

Kate waits for Charlie in the hotel lobby and faints when she sees him kissing Juliette. A thief named Bob steals her luggage, and Luc arrives to retrieve the vine and necklace, helping Kate identify the thief. Bob later admits to selling her passport, but the necklace remains hidden in the vine.

Kate seeks help from American and Canadian embassies but is denied because of her Canadian citizenship and a prior marijuana conviction. She books a train to Cannes to pursue Charlie, and Luc, having deduced the necklace is in Kate's bag, pretends to help her win him back.

That night, Kate kisses Luc in her sleep. In the morning she describes a delicious dream, but copious French cheese makes her ill. The odd romantic tension continues to grow between them.

The train stops at La Ravelle in Paulhaguet, Luc's hometown. He takes Kate to his family vineyard and explains his history, including gambling away his rights to the estate. Kate's wine knowledge and curiosity deepen their connection.

On the journey toward Cannes again, Kate reveals she found the necklace. Luc's feelings for her begin to surface as he distracts Juliette to keep her away from Kate. Their dynamic shifts from wary allies to potential lovers.

Luc advises Kate to mimic French women's indifferent attitude toward men. Kate confronts Charlie and Juliette on the beach, admitting she came to France to win Charlie back, but now claims Luc is her lover. The balance of power starts to tilt toward Kate and Luc.

Inspector Cardon asks Kate to hand over the necklace to avoid Luc's arrest. She convinces Luc to let her sell the necklace to Cartier, signaling a bold move to secure her future.

Kate has dinner with Charlie to discuss dividing their Canadian property, and he is intrigued by her new indifference. Luc distracts Juliette. That night, Charlie and Juliette seem to reconcile, while Luc calls Juliette 'Kate' and pulls back from his affair.

The next morning, Kate tells Luc she has won Charlie back. She returns the necklace to Cardon and hands Luc a check she says is from Cartier, which is actually her life savings. Luc's gratitude grows as they prepare to part for the airport.

Cardon explains what Kate did for him, cementing Luc's trust. He finds Kate on the airplane and confesses his love. They kiss passionately as the vineyard they now own together comes into view, marking a hopeful ending.
