On a cruise to Cuba, Lulu Smith falls for Bob Grover, who later admits he is married. She becomes pregnant, hides the baby and pretends to be the child's nanny while taking a newspaper job. When Bob learns the truth, he secretly adopts the girl without his wife's knowledge. The editor learns the secret, wants to marry Lulu, and their lives tangled.
