Eternal

The Celestials created the sun and various forms of life. As monstrous creatures known as Deviants began to wreak havoc, the leader of the Celestials, Arishem, formed a group of immortal beings called the Eternals to protect Earth.

The Eternals awaken on Earth with Ajak chosen by Arishem to lead them. As they explore the planet, Ikaris meets Sersi, who is mesmerized by Earth's beauty, and they are soon joined by their fellow Eternals.

In Mesopotamia around 5000 BC, the Eternals engage in their first battle with the Deviants to protect the humans living there. Each Eternal showcases their unique powers to fend off the attackers, successfully introducing themselves to the humans afterward.

In present-day London, Sersi attends a class where an earthquake unexpectedly interrupts the lecture. Using her powers, Sersi saves her students by preventing a heavy object from falling, showcasing her abilities to those around her.

While celebrating Dane's birthday, Sersi and Sprite are attacked by a super-powered Deviant named Kro. As they try to defend themselves, Ikaris arrives just in time to help them combat the monstrous creature.

Flashback to 575 BC in Babylon, where Ajak communicates with Arishem. She expresses her concerns about humanity and her emotional attachment to them, highlighting the tension between their mission and their feelings.

Sersi, Sprite, and Ikaris travel to Ajak's ranch, only to find her murdered by Kro. Mourning their leader's death, Sersi receives a powerful stone from Ajak's body, marking her as the new leader of the Eternals.

In 1521 AD Tenochtitlan, Thena suffers a mental breakdown during a battle due to her past memories resurfacing. Though subdued by her comrades, this incident raises concerns about her stability within the group.

Sersi, Ikaris, and Sprite set out to gather the other Eternals. After finding Kingo in Mumbai, they share the news of Ajak's death and the threat posed by the Deviants, motivating them to join the cause.

Sersi connects with Arishem, who reveals the true purpose of the Eternals—bringing forth the Celestial Tiamut as part of a cycle that would require the extinction of Earth’s inhabitants. This revelation shocks the Eternals and shifts their priorities.

The Eternals face off against Kro and the Deviants in a fierce fight at a village. Tragically, Gilgamesh is killed by Kro, causing the team to mourn their fallen friend and motivating them to stand together against the greater threat.

In 1945 Hiroshima, Phastos reflects on humanity's destructive nature after witnessing the aftermath of the atomic bombing. This experience deepens his disillusionment with humanity, affecting his willingness to join the Eternals' mission.

The climactic battle occurs at the volcano where Tiamut is set to emerge. The Eternals fight Ikaris, who ultimately sacrifices himself by flying into the sun after a remorseful revelation of his choices.

After the conflict, Sersi uses the Uni-Mind to take away Sprite's immortality, allowing her to live a normal human life. This reflects Sersi’s compassion and desire to help her friend and ease her frustrations with eternal life.

In the aftermath, Sersi rejoins Dane, but the peace is short-lived as Arishem appears, threatening the Eternals for failing his plan. This leaves Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos to contemplate their actions and uncertain futures.
