Hari refused the arranged marriage to the English heiress because he did not want to marry someone he did not love. On his wedding day, he escaped the ceremony and boarded a plane to India to avoid the union entirely, choosing freedom over the family business alliance.

Hari miraculously survived the crash and washed ashore in Mumbai. He was rescued by Bijuriya and Katariya, who helped him recover. After learning the British government had declared him dead, Hari decided to use that status to start a new life in India away from his past.

Bijuriya pretended to be Queen Rani Devi to protect Nandu from being taken away. When Vikram came to Mumbai to claim his nephew, Bijuriya created the false identity to guard Nandu's guardianship and keep him safe from the family that wanted to separate them.

Vikram rescued Bijuriya from Bheema Khalasi's assault and realized she was Nandu's true guardian who had sacrificed everything to raise the boy. He concluded that Bijuriya was the best parent for Nandu and chose to marry her, bringing her and Nandu to London as part of his family.

During a Diwali celebration at their home in Mumbai, a fire broke out that mortally wounded both Hari and Katariya. They died shortly after delivering their son Nandlal (Nandu). The tragedy occurred suddenly during the festival of lights, leaving their newborn orphaned.

Vikram wanted to bring his nephew to London to be trained in the Mayur family business, following the legacy that Hari would have carried. As the head of Mayur Group, Vikram believed Nandu should grow up in England to inherit and continue the family enterprise.

Lawyer Madadgar, a family friend, recognized Vikram from a television interview and realized he was Hari's younger brother and therefore Nandu's uncle. This discovery prompted him to bring Vikram to India to challenge the guardianship situation and claim the family legacy for the Mayur family.

After Hari and Katariya died in the Diwali fire, Bijuriya took responsibility for raising infant Nandu. She sacrificed her education, worked multiple jobs, and eventually became a bar dancer to provide for him, raising him for eight years with dedication.

Vikram traveled to Mumbai because of a legal case filed against Hari. The case forced him to confront the mystery surrounding his brother and revealed that Hari had survived in India, married, and had a son, complicated the family inheritance matters.

Nandu resisted leaving because he viewed Bijuriya as his mother figure who had raised him since birth. He was emotionally attached to her and could not imagine leaving the only parent he knew, even for the promise of family wealth and business opportunities in London.
