Dos Santos follows Barren Lives with a satire about El Justicero, a pampered general’s son who pictures himself as a James Bond‑Sartre hipster hero. He helps the downtrodden while exploiting bourgeois comforts; his biographer records and films his exploits, preferring cinema to a book. An awakening forces the hero to confront the glamour of his legend.
