Dr. Nawariyan

Nirwan Senanayake, known as Nawariyan, runs a crime network in Colombo while maintaining the disguise of a medical future. He builds the faux Senanayake Hospital to project a legitimate life that pleases his parents. This duplicitous existence becomes the fuse for the drama that follows when his father confronts the truth.

During a reunion with an old friend, a servant exposes Nirwan’s real life as a gang leader Nawariyan. Wickramasinghe’s remark shames Nirwan’s parents, calling them fools for not seeing through the pretense. Devastated, Nirwan’s father and mother flee to their village.

In grief and rage, Nirwan decides that the only redemption is to become a medical doctor and seek revenge by proving himself. He resolves to enroll in a medical college and begins planning his future.

With help from his right-hand man Circuit and others, Nirwan gains admission to a medical college. There he meets Wickramasinghe again, who is the dean of a private hospital, and his success depends on the coerced help of Dr Roshan.

Nirwan’s medical approach is limited, but he adopts an empathetic, holistic stance learned from his mother. He uses a Magic Kiss to comfort patients and challenges the impersonal, bureaucratic culture of the college. He begins by treating patients with warmth, even engaging a brain-dead patient Ananda Ayya as if he could perceive and respond.

Nirwan’s compassionate methods disrupt routines and endear him to some peers while irritating others who cling to the old system. He humiliates school bullies and thanks a janitor who had been underappreciated. This shift signals a move toward a more humane model of care at the college.

Wickramasinghe perceives Nawariyan’s behavior as chaos and tries to clamp down. His anger deepens and he appears almost insane when faced with unwelcome tidings, often laughing in a way that reveals his instability. The drama intensifies as Nirwan's influence grows.

Nirwan becomes fond of Wickramasinghe’s daughter Bhagya, who is secretly Pinki in Nirwan’s childhood. The romance carries a humorous note because Nirwan remains unaware that Bhagya and Pinki are the same person. The love triangle adds emotional tension to the medical college setting.

Wickramasinghe blocks Nirwan’s path multiple times, but Nirwan endures through wit and the affection of others at the college. The dean imposes a test: Nirwan can stay only if he passes the exam under Wickramasinghe’s supervision. The challenge tests Nirwan’s resolve and the college’s tolerance for his methods.

Cancer patient Anushka is in a dying state and seeks Nirwan’s care, but she dies in his arms, underscoring his limits and deepening his guilt over failing to save her. The event becomes a turning point in his mindset. It also sharpens the tension between Nirwan and the college leadership.

Overwhelmed by guilt, Nirwan is shamed into leaving the college. The departure marks a turning point as he confronts the consequences of his failures and the loss of Anushka.

In the moments after Nirwan’s departure, Ananda Ayya awakens from his vegetative state, signaling a hopeful turn. Bhagya delivers a heartfelt speech criticizing her father for banishing Nirwan and defending compassion and hope. Wickramasinghe realizes his folly and starts to rethink his stance.

Nirwan returns home late at night, drunk, and is greeted by his repentant parents who tell him that Pinki awaits him. He admits that his heart belongs to Bhagya, not to the deception. Bhagya then reveals her true identity as Pinki, bringing the story toward its reconciliation.
