Dr. Jekyll & Sister Hyde

Dr. Henry Jekyll dedicates his life to curing illnesses, pursuing breakthroughs with relentless focus. His lecherous friend Professor Robertson mocks the pace of his work, predicting he will be dead before any discovery. The cruel remark spurs Jekyll to a dangerous obsession with an elixir of life.

Haunted by Robertson's scorn, Jekyll abandons conventional research and begins seeking an elixir of life. He turns to female hormones harvested from cadavers provided by Burke and Hare to fuel his experiments. The plan hinges on manipulating life chemistry to prolong his own existence.

Jekyll compounds the hormones into a serum and drinks it, triggering a startling transformation. His body shifts into that of a woman, creating the first appearance of his female alter ego. The emergence unsettles those around him, especially Susan.

To outsiders, Jekyll explains that Mrs Edwina Hyde is his widowed sister living with him, a cover for the new female presence in his life. The other residents of the building react with mixed curiosity and jealousy as Hyde settles in. Hyde's personality begins to push Jekyll's own will aside.

The serum requires a regular supply of female hormones to maintain the transformation, forcing Jekyll to seek more sources. This dependence drives him toward murder to obtain cadaveric supplies. The line between science and crime blurs as Hyde grows more powerful.

Burke and Hare supply the necessary hormones, but their criminal activities are eventually exposed. A mob lynches Burke, and Hare is blinded by lime, showing the city reaction to the murders. Jekyll's experiments become linked to the real life killer's rampage.

To continue the supply, Jekyll takes matters into his own hands and commits murders attributed to Jack the Ripper. Hyde relishes the killings, gaining control and reveling in the carnage. The bloody spree marks a dangerous escalation of the dual personalities.

Mrs. Hyde begins to manipulate the social circle, seducing and then killing Professor Robertson when he tries to question the murders. The power struggle between Jekyll and Hyde intensifies as the latter seeks control.

Jekyll asks Susan to the opera, but as he dresses he unknowingly wears Hyde's gown instead of his clothes. The moment reveals that he no longer needs the serum to transform, and Susan's hopes are crushed when he fails to take her to the show.

Hyde decides that Susan's blood will help her seize control, stalking the innocent girl through the dark streets. Jekyll's willpower barely prevents a murder as the two personalities clash. The threat to Susan becomes a focal point of the struggle.

Jekyll attempts one last murder in a bid to stabilize his condition, but the police close in after Hare hints at the link between cadaver experiments and the Ripper killings. The investigation intensifies as the killings mount. The dual personalities collide under mounting pressure.

During a desperate escape, Jekyll climbs along the exterior of a building and transforms into Mrs. Hyde. He dies there as an amalgamation of male and female, the two identities finally merging in death.
