Rakesh is an honest lawyer who fights for justice and is respected by the poor. He lives with his mother Sarada and is bitterly estranged from his MLA father, Mahendra. The conflict with his father defines his current outlook on law and family.

Sandhya, a persistent journalist, tries to interview Rakesh but he refuses. She starts following him and gradually falls in love with him. She later reveals her love to Sarada and discloses Rakesh's past, testing their bond.

Four years ago, Rakesh is energetic and falls in love with Surekha, a middle-class girl. He is determined to marry her, resisting his father's plan to fix a politically advantageous match.

To boost his political rise, Mahendra arranges for Rakesh to marry a politician's daughter. He views this union as a tool to strengthen his influence.

Rakesh rejects the proposed match and makes plans to marry Surekha. He chooses personal happiness over political convenience, defying his father's scheme.

To stop the marriage, Mahendra orchestrates a trap in court that brands Surekha as a prostitute. Devastated by the accusation, Surekha commits suicide. The tragedy triggers Rakesh's fury and resolve to confront his father.

In a heated confrontation, Rakesh goes to kill Mahendra, but his mother's pleas lead him to spare his father. The clash deepens the family rift, and Rakesh and Mahendra remain estranged.

Meanwhile, Sandhya declares her love to Sarada and then reveals Rakesh's past to him. The revelation reshapes his understanding of his life and motivates him to pursue justice more firmly.

Mahendra's political career falters because of the ongoing family disturbances. He tries to patch things up with his family, but Rakesh refuses to back down. The tension between them undermines his leadership.

In frustration, Mahendra kills his keeper Balamani to eliminate an obstacle. The murder creates a new legal case that threatens to expose him further.

To escape the murder charges, Mahendra urges Rakesh to take up the case. Rakesh refuses, reaffirming his commitment to justice, while Mahendra continues to press his influence behind the scenes.

Mahendra taunts Sarada and manipulates her emotions to pressure Rakesh into defending him. Rakesh is irritated by the tactic, sensing the injustice in aiding his father.

Sarada finally gives Rakesh the freedom to stand against Mahendra, backing his pursuit of the truth. This support strengthens Rakesh's resolve to see justice done.

Rakesh prosecutes the case and demonstrates Mahendra's culpability. The verdict vindicates Surekha's memory and upholds the rule of law against political pressure.
