Deep Rising

Captain John Finnegan and his crew are hired by mercenaries to pilot their boat across the South China Sea toward an undisclosed rendezvous. The Argonautica, a luxury cruise ship, begins its maiden voyage with passengers aboard.

During boarding, a thief named Trillian is discovered and confined to the brig. Soon afterward, an unidentified saboteur disables the Argonautica's navigation and communication systems, plunging the ship into chaos.

Something rises from beneath and rams the vessel, leaving the Argonautica dead in the water. The passengers are slaughtered by unseen creatures that swarm the ship, cutting off any chance of rescue.

A speedboat from the mercenaries collides with Finnegan's boat, allowing them to board the Argonautica. They seize control with the intent to loot the passengers and the vault, and to use the ship's torpedoes to sink the liner.

The mercenaries reach the ship’s interior and take charge, while Leila and Billy stay behind to repair the smaller boat. Finnegan and Joey make it to the ballroom, finding blood and no sign of the passengers.

Finnegan and Joey head to the workshop to scavenger parts to repair their craft, guarded by Mamooli and T-Ray. In the chaos, Leila is dragged away by the lurking creatures.

The creatures drag Mamooli away and kill T-Ray as he investigates noises. Finnegan and Joey flee further into the ship and encounter Trillian, the escaped thief.

The mercenaries reach the vault and Vivo opens it to reveal the stash of valuables. Canton, hiding with Captain Atherton and several passengers, shoots Vivo and traps the others in a tense standoff. Mason and Mulligan panic and accidentally kill some passengers amid the confusion.

Canton is exposed as the saboteur who hired the mercenaries to sink the ship for insurance money. As the truth comes out, the survivors fight their way toward safety while the crew speculates about the nature of the threat that stalks them.

As the creatures attack, Captain Atherton is killed and the survivors grapple with the notion that the attackers are an evolved form of Ottoia. Canton theorizes about the creatures’ biology while the others scramble to stay alive.

Mason detonates a grenade in a final bid to wipe out a creature and buys the others time. Mulligan chooses to stay behind in the galley to await rescue, but is eventually devoured by a lurking predator.

The survivors are herded toward the bow, which has become a feeding ground for the creatures. The hull is breached, flooding lower decks and separating the group; Hanover wounds Joey to slow an attack but is eventually devoured by a creature.

With escape becoming unlikely, Finnegan sets the autopilot to crash into the Argonautica and detonate the torpedoes, intending to destroy both ships and the Octalus. This desperate ploy buys time as the crew braces for the final confrontation.

Canton leaps to board Finnegan's boat but breaks his leg, leaving him unable to disable the autopilot. The torpedoes detonate, destroying both ships and the Octalus; Finnegan and Trillian escape on a jet ski, narrowly avoiding the collapsing vessels.

Finnegan and Trillian reach the island and reunite with Joey, whom they believed dead. A roar echoes from the jungle as the island’s distant volcano rumbles, signaling that an even greater danger is converging on shore.
