Deck the Halls

In Cloverdale, Massachusetts, optometrist Steve Finch prepares for Christmas with his family. He is determined to create a festive environment filled with traditions including an Advent calendar, Christmas card photos in matching sweaters, and a large Christmas tree.

In the middle of the night on December 1, new neighbors Buddy Hall and his trophy wife Tia move in across the street from the Finches. The next morning, Steve and his wife Kelly meet the Halls, and the families begin to interact.

Later that day, Kelly takes their children Madison and Carter to visit the Halls. They meet Buddy and Tia's teenage twin daughters, Ashley and Emily, forming an instant connection that brings the two families closer together.

As Buddy settles into his new neighborhood, he goes to work as a used car salesman. He impresses his boss by selling a car, leading to a promotion that fuels his desire for bigger accomplishments.

Buddy realizes that his house isn't visible on satellite imagery. Determined to change that, he begins to set up extensive Christmas lights, creating a display that gradually transforms his house into a major attraction.

As Buddy's light display becomes the talk of the town, Steve's jealousy intensifies. His attempts to create the perfect Christmas are thwarted by Buddy’s extravagant displays, leading to a series of disastrous events.

During a Christmas card photo session, Steve's plans are derailed when feral horses from Buddy's property create chaos. The incident culminates in Steve falling into a frozen lake, highlighting his escalating rivalry with Buddy.

In a bid to settle their rivalry, Buddy and Steve make a bet regarding the WinterFest speed skating race. The stakes are high: if Steve wins, Buddy will remove his lights, but if Buddy wins, Steve must pay for a car.

Frustrated with losing to Buddy, Steve resorts to buying illegal fireworks to sabotage Buddy’s decorations. However, his plan goes awry, resulting in the town Christmas tree catching fire, further damaging his reputation.

Steve discovers that Buddy has been stealing electricity for his lights, which deepens their conflict. However, as Buddy starts to dismantle his lights, Steve experiences a change of heart after recognizing the damage they've both caused.

Embracing forgiveness, Steve and Buddy join forces to create a winter wonderland. Together, they combine their efforts to bring joy back to their families and the community, while also repairing their friendship.

Word spreads about Buddy's light display, drawing the whole town to his home as MTV arrives for coverage. The community comes together to help restore Buddy’s lights in a celebratory spirit, despite initial setbacks.

After a moment of troubleshooting, Carter discovers the unplugged connection that prevents the lights from shining. Once plugged in, Buddy's display illuminates the night, marking a triumphant moment for everyone involved.

As the lights brighten, SuChin Pak from MTV verifies that Buddy's house is visible from space. This achievement brings excitement to the crowd, solidifying the friendships formed during this festive season.

The entire community celebrates Buddy's accomplishments and the rekindled friendships. Everyone shares a joyful meal together, marking the end of a tumultuous yet rewarding journey that strengthens their bonds.
