Day of Anger

Scott works as a street sweeper in Clifton, Arizona, and is looked down upon by the townspeople. He has never known his father and only knows his mother's first name, Mary. His only real friendships are with Murph Allan Short, a former gunslinger, and Blind Bill, a partially blind beggar who still respects him.

Frank Talby rides into Clifton and immediately kills Perkins, one of Scott's tormentors. Scott senses a possible chance to change his life through danger and skill. The town's power dynamics begin to shift as Talby's presence promises opportunities and peril.

Talby does not ignore Scott; he reluctantly agrees to take him along and begins teaching him ten essential gunfighting rules. This mentorship marks a turning point for Scott, who has long felt invisible to Clifton's crowd. They head out of town to pursue Wild Jack, with Scott following Talby’s lead.

Talby and Scott track down Wild Jack, who admits the money for the planned robbery is gone. Jack explains he was double-crossed by Clifton's most respectable citizens, the same people who despise Scott. The revelation confirms that the town's veneer hides a dangerous conspiracy.

A gunfight erupts, and Scott demonstrates deadly accuracy that begins to win Talby's respect. Talby sees that Scott has real talent and potential beyond his status as a town outcast. They calm the immediate threat by dealing with Wild Jack's gang.

After their success, Talby and Scott return to Clifton. On Talby's suggestion, Scott changes his name to 'Scott Mary' to reflect a new identity. He begins to showcase his shooting to the townspeople who previously scorned him.

Scott publicly displays his shooting skills, earning fear and respect from Clifton's residents. The formerly ridiculed man is now perceived as dangerous and powerful. Talby continues to use him to consolidate control over the town.

Talby expands his grip on Clifton by eliminating Perkins' gang. The town's criminal underworld now bends to his rule as his associate Scott stands by him. The act solidifies Talby's dominance and signals the start of his unchecked governance.

Talby's ruthless purge continues as he and Scott target Clifton's inner circle who conspired against him. With the circle gone, Talby's authority becomes de facto town management. Murph watches this power shift with mounting unease.

Murph, Scott's old mentor, takes the Sheriff's badge and forbids carrying guns in Clifton. He believes that Talby's methods must be halted even if it means standing against his former pupil. Scott warns Talby not to threaten Murph, but Talby remains defiant.

Murph decides to confront Talby directly, hoping to end the bloodshed. Talby shoots Murph in cold blood, forcing Scott to witness the betrayal. Scott flees in anger, realizing the path of violence has consumed his mentor-figure.

Murph has left behind Doc Holliday's gun—a rapid-fire weapon—and notes that suggest how to outgun Talby. Scott, grieving and enraged, grabs the gun and studies the strategy to defeat Talby. The tools now in Scott's hands hint at an imminent showdown.

Using the ten rules and Doc Holliday's gun, Scott defeats Talby's gang. He then faces Talby in an open duel and kills him, ending his tyranny. The town's future feels uncertain as Scott contemplates what comes next.

Triumphant but desolate, Scott discards his gun. He walks away from the scene of the duel with Blind Bill, choosing a new path separate from gunfighting. The town settles into a fragile peace as his story closes.
