Eddie Garrick, a social worker, has been embittered by the holiday season ever since the Christmas of his childhood. A mall Santa, during that time, inadvertently contributed to the separation of his parents, leaving a lasting impact on Eddie's view of Christmas.

As an adult, Eddie finds himself estranged from his wife, Allison. This distance complicates his attempts to build a relationship with their daughter, Charlotte Garrick, highlighting the emotional challenges he faces during the festive season.

While Allison is busy wrapping up holiday shopping, Eddie takes the opportunity to spend quality time with Charlotte. They cherish the moments together, as Eddie tries to create new memories despite the undercurrent of tension in their family dynamics.
