Dangerous Waters

Rose and her mother, Alma, prepare for a long-awaited trip with Alma's new boyfriend, Derek. Despite feeling like a third wheel, Rose reluctantly joins them after her mother encourages her to come along.

The trio sets out to sea, embarking on what is intended to be a fun and distraction-free getaway. However, Rose feels increasingly uncomfortable with the ongoing dynamics between her mother and Derek.

During their trip, Rose learns about Derek's past as a police officer turned security consultant. This revelation creates curiosity about his current life and intentions.

While exploring the cabin of the boat, Rose finds an AR-15 rifle and various pistols. Intrigued and uneasy, she contemplates learning how to handle such weaponry amidst the escalating tension.

One night, Rose is startled by noises on deck and finds Derek in a violent confrontation with a group of men. The situation escalates tragically, leading to her mother Alma's death and Derek being shot.

As chaos ensues, the attackers attempt to set the boat on fire. Rose bravely puts out the flames and salvages resources, demonstrating her will to survive in the face of danger.

After the fire, Rose finds clothes to cover her mother’s body, vowing to honor her memory if she manages to survive. She successfully assists Derek back onboard after rescuing him from the water.

With Derek's guidance, Rose learns to hoist the spare jib and they sail towards a distant island. As they navigate the currents, Rose grapples with her distrust of Derek, fueled by her discovery of pictures of their attackers.

They reach an uninhabited island, realizing it offers little hope for rescue. Derek reveals his criminal connections, prompting Rose to fear for her life as he considers taking drastic measures.

Displaying her resourcefulness, Rose escapes into the jungle overnight as Derek plans to silence her. The next morning, their confrontation leads to Derek injuring himself while attempting to shoot her.

Ignoring Derek’s desperate pleas for help, Rose leaves him behind, knowing he lied about the EPIRB. She focuses on her survival, realizing she must sever her ties with him for her safety.

As she attempts to keep her mother’s body with her, Rose loses it to the depths of the ocean. This heartbreaking moment adds to her anguish as she continues her fight for survival.

One bright day, Rose spots a distant ship and frantically signals for help. Unfortunately, the ship overlooks her due to the sun, leaving her feeling isolated and hopeless.

When a speedboat arrives, Rose realizes she’s now face-to-face with the man responsible for her mother’s death. Summoning her courage, she devises a plan to trick him and regain control.

In a fierce confrontation, Rose fights the ship's crew and ultimately confronts Derek one last time. She defeats him, marking the end of her harrowing journey and affirming her survival against the odds.
