Bobby Grady attends a group therapy session as a guest of his friend Donny Hopper. Although he appears confident, he feels out of place among the other attendees who share their deeper insecurities and struggles.

During the session, Bobby boasts about his 11-year marriage to his high school sweetheart, Amy, claiming they are happy and have two children. Yet, under the surface, he is troubled by his unsatisfactory sex life.

After the therapy session, Bobby returns home late and faces Amy's complaints about their financial struggles. He decides to take on undercover surveillance work to help with their income.

Bobby begins his nighttime surveillance for Lou Bateman, who suspects Joanna Crane, a talented designer, of wrongdoing. Bobby is skeptical but motivated to earn extra cash despite feeling uncomfortable.
