Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires

A man and a woman are walking home after a night out in 1986 Los Angeles when they encounter two monstrous homeless people. The man is violently bitten on the neck by a large, hairy, creature-like homeless man, while the woman is also bitten but manages to escape. She is hit by a speeding police car while fleeing the scene.

The story shifts to a flashback/dream sequence where Chuck Steel, a rebellious cop, recalls how he lost his wife after being kidnapped by the Yakuza and falling from a helicopter. This event haunts him as he navigates his tough, isolated lifestyle.

Chuck wakes up before crashing into a circus billboard, then prepares for his day. He sees a news report about the new governor's plans to reduce alcohol consumption and aid the homeless. Displeased, he shoots his TV and heads out for work.

Chuck meets his new rookie partner, Barney, and together they apprehend gangsters in a chaotic manner, causing significant collateral damage. Chuck rants about working alone, revealing his distrust for partnerships.

Captain Jack Schitt berates Chuck for his excessive methods and reveals that Barney was so traumatized by their last encounter that he shot himself. The captain decides Chuck should be paired with someone, offering options that include a woman, a monkey, or a cheese plant.

Chuck chooses to be partnered with a large, clumsy woman who is revealed to be a gormless, masculine figure. They go to the hospital to investigate the woman from the opening scene, where they arrest a supernatural hunter, Professor Van Rental.

Professor Van Rental explains that the monsters, called Trampires, are former vampires who turned to binge drinking and now prey on people with high blood alcohol levels. Chuck dismisses him but has him jailed for his claims.

Over the next days, Trampires attack repeatedly, increasing their numbers. Van Rental escapes prison, returns, and tries to stake the woman, leading to a sunlight attack that turns her into a bat and bites Chuck on the nose. His partner falls to her death amid chaos.

Chuck and Van Rental attempt to explain the situation to their captain. Chuck realizes he will become a Trampire by midnight and they prepare by acquiring weapons, while the captain dismisses their claims and takes the monkey, Giggles, as backup.

Chuck, Van Rental, and homeless allies gather at the circus for the decisive fight against the Master, who is revealed to be Cular. A massive battle ensues, with Chuck becoming a Trampire temporarily but ultimately being saved by a crucifix necklace, defeating the Master and her monstrous form.

After the defeat, Chuck finds his ex-wife, who reveals she still loves him but cannot be with him because he is not a clown. It is also exposed that she did not leave him for the clown, but she actually left him for her previous clown partner.

Van Rental explains that more creatures are out there to fight. Chuck, now aware of the ongoing supernatural threats, asks him humorously whether he prefers to face enemies 'Face or Balls', indicating his readiness for new adventures.
