Candice White is abandoned as an infant on the steps of the Pony Home orphanage. The caretakers name her Candy after a doll in her basket and give her the surname White because she was rescued during a snowstorm. Though life seems peaceful, Candy’s restless spirit leads her into mischief—climbing trees, challenging peers—and soon a tragedy threatens her world.
