In the ending of Cam, Alice finally learns that her online doppelganger, Lola 2.0, isn’t a real person at all, but a malicious computer virus that has stolen her identity and taken over her account. This virus manipulates the site’s footage of real camgirls, creating an artificial duplicate that behaves exactly like Alice but is entirely digital. Alice traces the similarities between Lola 2.0 and real camgirls, like Hannah Darin, who was reported dead months earlier, confirming that the second Lola isn’t an actual person. She then confronts the virus by exploiting her physical vulnerability—her ability to hurt herself live on camera—knowing the virus cannot do the same. Alice tricks Lola 2.0 into a dangerous game where she damages herself, bleeding and disfiguring her face, but she emerges victorious when she forces the bot to give her her login details. With these, she deletes her original account and all of its footage, eradicating the virus’s digital copy of her. In the film’s final scenes, Alice adopts a new online persona, EveBot, symbolizing her resilience and willingness to start over. The story ends with her determined to rebuild her life and career, ready to reinvent herself whenever her identity is threatened, emphasizing her adaptability and strength in a digital world full of dangers.
