As Chip Gutchel (Tyler Cornack), the office IT guy, moves through a typical day at the RTM’s South Kritika Counties office, he finds himself caught in the chaotic celebration orchestrated by his manager Rick Mitchum (Austin Lewis), who is leading a spirited sing-along in honor of Jon Lee (Wilky Lau)'s promotion. Chip's frequent lapses in attention become impossible to ignore.
The very next day, he experiences his first prostate exam with a quirky yet invigorating doctor, Doctor Morean (Angela Jones), which ignites a newfound zest for life. This surge of energy results in some unconventional bedroom antics with his wife, Anne Gutchel (Shelby Dash), who is less than enthusiastic about his peculiar requests.
When Anne's inability to find the remote control triggers a surprising chain of bizarre events, Chip's actions spiral into the absurd. His increasingly desperate behavior — involving the insertion of unusual objects — leaves Anne frustrated and oblivious to the chaos that ensues as their dog Rocky Goes missing, alongside a baby from the park.
Amidst the turmoil, Chip grapples with depression. His failed suicide attempts lead him to seek solace in an Alcoholics Anonymous group, where he encounters Nelson Guerrera (Robert Ackerman Moss), a mentor who believes that sugar isn't addictive. As Chip progresses, he ends up sponsoring Russel Fox (Tyler Rice), a self-identified smoker and detective, further binding their paths as they confront their shared struggles with addiction.
While Chip shares his frustrations about marriage and parenthood with Russel, the latter obsesses over moving on from his ex-wife, who is now living a new life with another man. Meanwhile, a frantic search begins when Andrew Lee (Kai Henderson) goes missing during a game of hide-and-seek at the office.
This leads to a revelation that Chip's excuses for his personal shortcomings are starting to unravel — he has been fabricating stories around Anne's supposed cerebral palsy. As the situation escalates, hidden truths emerge, leaving Russel feeling betrayed and confused. Together, Chip and Russel return to the AA group, marking the initiation of a long path to recovery.
Tensions mount when Anne extends an invitation to dinner, where she pours wine and verbally undermines Chip in front of Russel. Russel, frustrated and facing dismissal from his superior, Chief John Lazzara (Brad Potts), watches Chip be hospitalized, where he renews his love for Anne, who continues to support him. Russel, however, falls into self-destructive behaviors as he fights his own demons.
In a twist of fate, Russel attempts a failed assassination on Chip at Marty Gutchell's birthday laser tag event. Despite his efforts, Chip's uncanny resilience proves too formidable. Chip emerges as a local hero while Russel becomes vilified as a fugitive.
Inside Chip's body, Russel finds himself trapped with Andrew and Rocky, learning that the young boy is actually his long-lost son.
