Bubble Boy

Jimmy Livingston is born with a severe immunodeficiency that confines him to a sterile dome in his bedroom. Growing up in isolation shaped his childhood, as he interacts mostly with the limited entertainment around him, earning the nickname 'Bubble Boy' from his neighbors.

A turning point in Jimmy's life occurs when Chloe, a new girl, moves in next door. Their friendship blossoms quickly, creating a deep connection that defies the limitations placed on Jimmy by his upbringing.

Jimmy's heart sinks when Chloe reveals she is getting married to her boyfriend Mark in three days. This news leaves him devastated, especially after a heartfelt conversation that ends on sour terms.

During his trek, Jimmy encounters Slim, a biker with a flat tire, and they form a quick friendship. Slim’s carefree spirit provides a contrasting influence to Jimmy's sheltered upbringing and opens new avenues in their adventure.

Jimmy and Slim travel to Las Vegas in search of money and excitement. However, Slim gets caught up in the nightlife, leading Jimmy to venture out on his own as their paths begin to diverge.

In Las Vegas, chaos ensues when Slim confronts the cult, resulting in the destruction of his bike. Enraged by this, he rallies a group of bikers to take revenge against the cult members who abandoned Jimmy.

While riding a scooter, Jimmy is briefly spotted by his parents but manages to evade them. This leads him to board a train filled with circus freaks who are fascinated by his situation, further complicating his journey.

To fund his trip, Jimmy enters a mud wrestling competition, but the cult reappears in the midst of the chaos. Just when he seems in trouble, the circus freaks disguised as wrestlers come to his aid, showcasing the alliances he’s built.

Jimmy meets Pappy, a cab driver who agrees to take him to Niagara Falls for $500. In a twist of fate, Pappy collapses at the wheel during the journey, forcing Jimmy to jump out and continue on foot.

In a dramatic climax, Jimmy arrives at Chloe's wedding just in time to stop the ceremony. He bravely removes his bubble suit and kisses Chloe, collapsing afterward, leading everyone to believe he has died.

Amid the chaos, Jimmy's mother reveals a long-held secret: Jimmy developed an immune system at age four, something she kept hidden from him. This revelation changes the dynamics of his relationship with her and the world.

With clarity and newfound love, Jimmy marries Chloe in a joyous ceremony surrounded by their eclectic group of friends. Their union is celebrated by everyone, signifying a new beginning and a break from the confines of his past.
