Born to Race follows Danny Krueger, Joseph Cross, a rebellious street racer whose talent behind the wheel pulls him toward trouble. After a crash at an illegal street race, he is sent to a quiet town to live with his estranged father, Frank Krueger, John Pyper-Ferguson, a washed-up NASCAR racer. In this new setting, Danny enters high school where he meets Jessica, Nicole Badaan, who invites him to a party. Seeking to fit in, he attends and immediately clashes with the neighborhood’s top driver Jake Kendall, Brando Eaton, who rules the streets with ferocity. To be accepted, Danny must live up to Jake’s standard and prove himself behind the wheel once more.

Meanwhile, the relationship with his father is rocky. Danny cannot get over the fact that his father left him and his mother when he was a child. As he tries to find his way in the new town, the men begin to rebuild a connection through conversation, discovering they have more in common than they realized. When Danny enters NHRA High School Drags, he seeks his father’s help to take down Jake Kendall. The two rally to support each other, and as elimination rounds pass, they advance to the finals. In the final race, Danny narrowly wins after Jake is injured in a fiery crash.

Ultimately, the story juxtaposes fast cars with family ties, showing how perseverance and hard-won bonds can reshape a teen's future.
