Bora Bora

Feeling lonely and out of place because her mom is always working or stressed, Mia longs for something different. Running becomes the one time she feels free from the dull, demanding routines of everyday life. This longing plants the seed for a new family and a place where she might belong.

Zack uses a feigned injury to pick Mia's purse on the street. When he attempts the same trick again later on the same street, Mia becomes suspicious and confronts him; he admits he stole from her.

The two share a chat in a café where Mia asks about Zack's thievery. He admits he belongs to a group of young pick-pockets squatting in an abandoned mansion and invites Mia to meet them and perhaps join.

Mia is introduced to the gang at the abandoned mansion and meets Silja, the wary leader. The group shares stories that highlight their troubled pasts, creating a sense of kinship for Mia. Silja tests Mia's abilities before offering her a place among them.
