Confession, rejection and budding bond

Yuu Koito, a first-year high school student, unexpectedly receives a confession from a classmate and declines it, still uncertain about love. She then notices Touko Nanami turning down a confession herself, which makes Yuu think Touko shares that uncertainty. The two start to approach each other and bond, and Touko suddenly confesses her feelings for Yuu, only for Yuu to admit she isn’t ready to reciprocate.

Touko runs for student council president and asks Yuu to be her campaign manager. Karin Isobe accepts the role, much to Touko's best friend Sayaka Saeki's dismay. Yuu joins the campaign to support Touko and begins to learn more about Touko's wish to be seen and understood.

As Touko becomes president, she plans to revive the long-dormant student council play. Yuu objects, feeling uncertain about taking on the project. Sayaka Saeki urges Yuu to seek Koyomi Kanou and to investigate the student council president from seven years ago. Yuu discovers that Mio Nanami, Touko's older sister, was the president then and had been producing the play before a traffic accident ended her plans, revealing that Touko is trying to imitate Mio.

Koyomi Kanou finishes the first draft of the play. The narrative centers on an amnesiac girl who must decide which person’s view of her is the true self, with the original ending having the lover’s view as the conclusion. The draft pushes the story toward examining identity and belonging.
