Bloody Homecoming

Billy pays off his teammates to create a private party and lure their dates away from the dance. The group moves to the Theater department and Billy takes Annie into the costume storage closet. Annie resists his advances, and Loren intervenes by striking Billy with the spirit baton and locking him in the closet. A candle is knocked over, starting a fire that traps Billy; Principal Patterson, Mrs. Patterson, and Miss Russell attempt a rescue, but it's too late.

Three years after Billy's death, Winston High prepares for its first Homecoming dance since the tragedy. Annie struggles with depression and antidepressants, isolating herself from friends. Robby and Nora are spotted with a fireman's uniform in the custodial closet, hinting at new danger. Loren and Steve try to check on Annie, but she won't answer the door.

A killer wearing a fireman's mask and jacket tracks Annie to her home and kills her with a stabbing through the mouth using the school spirit baton. The attack follows the earlier assault and marks the killer's escalation of revenge. This murder intensifies the fear and sets up the motive for the later killings.

Cheryl and Darcy insult Nora in the girls' locker room; Loren and the others discover lockers smeared with blood that reads 'Happy Homecoming.' The chilling messages reinforce that someone is watching and targeting the group. Principal Patterson opens Annie's locker and finds no message.

Sheriff Corbin, Billy's father, visits Principal Patterson and blames the students for his wife Vivian's mental hospital stay. Tensions rise as personal histories collide with the investigation. The adults' frustrations push the teens to take matters into their own hands.

Wade, Cassie, Loren, Steve, Nora, Robby, and Jaclyn go to Annie's house to check on her, but she is not there. Mrs. Patterson notices Cassie's pictures on the computer, hinting at her obsession. Jaclyn calls her boyfriend Karl, now a deputy, asking him to meet at the dance; he can't come due to patrol and does not show up in time.

The killer strikes again, murdering Robby and Nora after they have sex in a pickup truck outside the football game. The murder demonstrates the killer's reach beyond the school grounds. The teens prepare for a pre-party, with Wade's stolen alcohol adding to the night's danger.

At the Homecoming dance, Miss Russell insults Coach Connally after he makes a pass at her. Steve spikes the punch with Wade's booze, turning the party darker. Cassie is crowned Homecoming Queen, but Wade is murdered as he searches for his bottle. The killer is seen, Cassie runs, and Janitor Fred is killed after a struggle; Cassie dies in the hallway.

Karl is killed while patrolling outside the dance. A dancer falls into Cassie's blood in the bathroom, signaling the chaos inside. The killer grabs Jaclyn, but Steve rescues her; Jaclyn collapses as Steve and Loren flee. Steve is crushed by the retracting gym bleachers while Loren is captured by the killer.

Loren awakens to find herself bound to a chair in a room of dead bodies and a wounded Principal Patterson. The killer reveals herself as Mrs. Patterson, Billy's former ally, seeking revenge. She douses the scene with gasoline and lights a match; Jaclyn arrives and fights back. Jaclyn frees Loren and ultimately pushes Mrs. Patterson onto the spirit baton, impaling her.

Loren and Jaclyn escape the carnage with Janitor Fred wounded in tow. The survivors exit the school and begin to come to terms with the night's horrors. The town contends with the toll of the tragedy as they seek safety and answers.

Loren and Jaclyn attend their graduation ceremony, marking a grim milestone after the tragedy. A figure in cap and gown stalks the girls, clutching the spirit baton, suggesting the killer's influence might still linger. The final image implies danger is not entirely over and leaves a haunting note for the future.
