Danny Valddesechi [Chris Pine] is an intelligent, handsome, and unexpectedly brave young man who has been blind since birth. He volunteers for a risky experimental visual prosthesis that would implant a microchip in the visual cortex of his brain, connecting to a camera that could grant him sight—at best, only fuzzy black-and-white images. During the testing phase, he crosses paths with a compassionate Punjabi nurse, Leeza [Anjali Jay] Leeza Raja, whose presence brings warmth and questions about what might be possible for him to see.

Meanwhile, Danny’s brother Larry [Eddie Kaye Thomas], a busy limousine-service entrepreneur, tries to ease his兄弟’s nerves by setting up a string of misguided blind dates between rides, leading to a string of comically disastrous social misfires. The mix of humor and hope paints a vivid portrait of a family navigating care, culture, and the desire for connection.

As the tests progress, Danny realizes he is falling for Leeza, yet she reveals a painful barrier: she cannot pursue a relationship with him because she has been promised in an arranged marriage. Danny’s eccentric psychotherapist Dr. Evans [Jane Seymour] and the steady, methodical eye doctor Dr. Perkins [Stephen Tobolowsky] urge him to persevere, insisting that this operation remains his best chance at sight. They help him hold onto hope and push through the uncertainty, even as the world around him seems to tilt on its axis. The medical team’s optimism is tempered by the fragility of the prosthesis, which is known to be temperamental and difficult to stabilize.

Eventually, the operation proceeds, and Danny experiences the moment of truth: he sees his family’s faces for the first time. However, Leeza is away, preparing for her engagement party, and the sight of her is delayed. The diagnosis of the device’s instability grows grimmer as the prosthesis shifts, casting doubt on whether vision will ever fully stabilize. The brilliant potential of the device clings to a fragile thread, and Danny confronts the possibility that his dreams of seeing may remain partially unrealized.

Despite the setback, Danny’s understanding of love evolves. Realizing the depth of his feelings for Leeza, he makes a dramatic entrance at her engagement party and declares his love.
