My Awkward Sexual Adventure

Jordan Abrams, a conservative Jewish accountant, Jonas Chernick lives a stable but somewhat dull life with his girlfriend Rachel Stern Sarah Manninen. The night before a planned vacation where Jordan hopes to propose, Rachel breaks the news that she cannot marry him because she wants to explore her own sexuality. This turn of events sets him on a quest to change himself in order to win her back.

Seeking guidance from his smooth-talking buddy Vik Sahay as Dandak Sajal, Jordan is nudged toward a strip club. There he meets Julia Bowe Emily Hampshire, a dancer who, when she’s short on money, receives an act of kindness from him in the form of buying her chips from the vending machine—an act he calls “good karma payback.” After a night of heavy drinking, Jordan is tossed out onto a back trash pile and stripped of his pants. Julia finds him, and driven by a guilty conscience, brings him back to her apartment to sleep it off.

The next morning, Jordan discovers Julia’s finances in disarray—huge debt, boxes of sex toys, and a flawless kitchen she clearly maintains with skill. Julia proves to be more than a dancer: she’s a talented cook as well. In exchange for helping manage her money, Jordan agrees to let Julia teach him new experiences “to broaden his horizons.” Together they embark on a wild education, moving from strip clubs to sensual massage parlors, cross-dressing, oral sex techniques, and elements of sadomasochism. As he absorbs these lessons, Rachel tries to fill the void by pursuing a liberated, chaotic sex life of her own—dating multiple men, joining group encounters, and attending provocative costume parties—yet she remains unsatisfied.

One night, under Julia’s direction, Jordan experiments with dominance, handcuffing and gagging Julia as part of their explorations. It’s a moment that deeply unsettles both of them when Rachel arrives and pleads for Jordan to come back. She witnesses him with Julia and, overwhelmed by the moment, bolts from the apartment. Their pursuit of reconciliation is interrupted by repo men who invade Julia’s space, stripping the apartment of furniture and robbing the savings box while Julia remains bound. Jordan apologizes later and helps reclaim some of Julia’s belongings; she forgives him and becomes more involved in helping him grow, even guiding him through intimate techniques—though a misstep (gum in his mouth during a close moment) causes her to wince in pain. They wash away the discomfort in the shower and share a tender kiss, signaling a turning point in their bond. Yet even as their connection deepens, Dandak pushes Jordan to win Rachel back—a push that collides with Julia’s own growing feelings for him, which become complicated when he leaves again for Rachel.

Ultimately, Jordan makes a decisive choice: he falls in love with Julia and decides not to return to Rachel. He returns to the strip club to try again with Julia, but she remains wary and silent. A month later, she receives an invitation to the opening of a new restaurant, and she discovers that Jordan has bought a nearby vacant building and transformed it into the place she’s always dreamed of owning. He invites her to be the chef, and in a clumsy but earnest moment, finally professes his love. Julia responds with a tearful kiss, moved by the gesture and the future they could share together.

The film ends on a hopeful note, with the couple preparing for their first time together. The sounds of their quiet intimacy blend with a tranquil shot of them asleep in bed, suggesting a new chapter built on honesty, growth, and mutual care.
