In a vast auditorium, the German National Opera gears up for a performance when their rehearsals are abruptly interrupted by a gang of armed assailants who take control of the venue, unleashing chaos and violence. Their motive? To deliver a chilling ultimatum: a ransom of three hundred million. Enter Matteo Donner (Rico Verhoeven), a special forces operative, who arrives alongside his dedicated team leader, John (Roland Møller). In a tragic turn of events, the criminals refuse to cooperate and execute a hostage, pushing Matteo to disregard his orders and confront the threat head-on.

In a valiant but costly effort, Matteo manages to secure the release of the hostages, though this heroic act comes with the devastating loss of John’s life. Five years later, he finds himself in Calarasi, Romania, working at a sawmill, trying to escape from the shadows of his past. However, a sense of responsibility pulls him back as he aims to support John’s widow, Helene (Marie Dompnier), and their daughter, Angie (Pippi Casey), his goddaughter, in the aftermath of his friend’s tragic death.

Meanwhile, in Amsterdam, Shira (Rona-Lee Shimon), Fischer (Kevin Janssens), and their INTERPOL colleagues successfully intercept a drug shipment linked to the powerful mobster Gabriel Saban (Frank Grillo), a kingpin behind the illegal operations in the area. Although Matteo arrives in Amsterdam to reconnect with Helene and Angie—something he has avoided since John’s death—tensions rise as his presence stirs old wounds. Helene, who has moved on with Paul (Peter Franzén), expresses her frustration over Matteo’s absence, yet she welcomes him into their home as a friend.

As Matteo begrudgingly adjusts to his new surroundings, Saban plots revenge, putting pressure on those attempting to thwart his operations. Saban’s aggressive strategies lead to escalating violence, resulting in deaths that signify his growing impatience. Meanwhile, Matteo grapples with the haunting memories of his past service, suffering from PTSD.

In a turn of fate, Angie’s kidnapping at the hands of Saban’s men forces Matteo into action once more. Despite being severely injured during the rescue effort, he attracts attention from Shira and Fischer, who begin to delve into his murky connections to the criminal underworld.
