The film begins with Willie Soke struggling as a valet driver at a country club. His lack of focus culminates in a catastrophic crash that leads to an explosive argument with his bosses and his immediate termination, launching him into a downward spiral.

In a voice-over, Willie reflects on his tumultuous years since surviving his encounter with the police after the events of the first *Bad Santa*. He describes how his self-destructive behavior led to the loss of his happiness with Sue, which only deepens his despair.

Desperate and despondent, Willie attempts to end his life by placing his head in the oven. When this fails, he tries hanging himself, but his actions are interrupted by the reappearance of Thurman Merman, who still clings to Willie in his cluelessness.

Thurman Merman, now 21 years old and working at a sandwich shop, finds Willie while he is attempting to hang himself. Their reunion is awkward yet comedic, showcasing the innocence of Thurman as he remarks about Willie’s predicament.

Willie's former accomplice, Marcus, emerges recently released from prison with a plan for a $2 million heist in Chicago. Despite their problematic past, he insists that he has changed, compelling Willie to consider participating in his scheme.

Upon arriving in Chicago, Willie learns that the target of Marcus's heist is a charity called Giving Way. The revelation becomes more complicated when he discovers that his mother, Sunny, is involved with the charity and begins to taunt him mercilessly.

A heated encounter with Sunny occurs when Willie snaps and punches her after she attempts to belittle him with derogatory nicknames. This moment signifies the strained dynamics in their relationship and Willie’s frustration with his past.

After a tense conversation at Sunny's apartment, Willie reluctantly agrees to participate in the heist after Marcus promises to sever ties with Sunny afterwards. To maintain appearances, he is forced to wear the Santa costume for collecting donations.

While dressed as Santa, Willie gets into an altercation with a rival Santa, which leads to his arrest. This incident complicates their plans and showcases the chaos that surrounds Willie in his attempts to engage with the charity.

After being released, Willie shares an intimate moment with Diane behind a dumpster, blissfully unaware that they are being watched. This encounter adds a layer of complexity to the heist as relationships between characters deepen.

Marcus tries unsuccessfully to charm Gina, a security guard, to gain access to the charity's safe. His efforts falter due to his height disadvantage, adding comedic tension to the unfolding heist situation.

Amidst the chaos of the heist preparations, Willie and Sunny unexpectedly bond, leading him to steal medications for her severe cough. However, this relationship takes a darker turn as Sunny continues to pressure him for manipulation.

Thurman embarks on a journey from Arizona to find Willie, overcome with feelings for him. Out of guilt, Willie ultimately decides to drop Thurman off at a shelter but recognizes the unique bond they share through his joyful singing at a charity event.

Chaos erupts as Willie and Marcus prepare for the robbery, only to discover Marcus's betrayal. The heist turns violent, showcasing the moral decay of their plans as alliances are shattered in the process.

Willie finds himself recovering in a hospital after the chaotic events but ultimately manages to avoid jail time. As he contemplates his past misadventures, he embraces a new life as a janitor, forming a strange but loving family from the remnants of chaos.
